NEWCASTLEWEST GAA CLUB NOTES

Return to Training

This week was all about the long-awaited return to training for our juvenile teams following an extended winter break. There was also good news for our Adult teams who have received the green light to return to on field activity on May 10th following the government Covid update last week. First to take to the training field drenched in glorious sunshine last Monday evening were our U15s and U17s who are eagerly awaiting details of when their 2020 championships will be completed. The U14 and U16 Hurling Finals and U16 Football Semi-Finals/Finals are expected to take place in June. Next up on Tuesday evening, the U11s and U13s showed no signs of rustiness and have definitely being training at home during the lockdown. On Friday evening the return to training week for our juvenile teams finished on an incredible high as we welcomed almost 100 players back to U7 and U9 training. It was fantastic for the club to see our pitches full of activity and smiles this week. New players of all ages and all levels are welcome. Parents and volunteers are also most welcome to help out in anyway you can. Newcastle West GAA would like to thank everyone for their continued compliance with the government guidelines to ensure our return to training continues to run safely for our players.

Primary Schools Coaching

This ongoing and help is always needed, so if you have an hour or so to spare and love the football and hurling, opportunity knocks! If you are interested, please contact childrensofficer.newcastlewest.limerick@gaa.ie for further details.

Spare Gear

If you have any small hurleys and helmets which are no longer needed they’d be very welcome by those coaching younger age groups in the club and schools. Just drop them to any training session or committee member and they will be added to stock and be available to the learners especially in schools where young players who are introduced to GAA may not have their own gear. Many of those who are introduced to the game in schools do not join the club!
