Na Piarsaigh GAA Club Notes:
Limerick:
William O’Donoghue was announced as Limerick vice-captain for 2025 over the weekend. A leader for both club and county for many years, he’ll deputise for Cian Lynch who was named captain for the season ahead. The news marks an end to Declan Hannon’s incredible period of success leading the Limerick senior hurlers.
Back on the pitch, Na Piarsaigh were well represented as Limerick had a convincing 1-31 to 21 point win over Antrim in UL on Friday night. Shane Dowling lined out between the sticks, with Vince Harrington picked at cornerback. William played the full 70, starting in midfield while Dylan Lynch came off the bench to score 2 points from play. He would be the only Na Piarsaigh player to make an appearance on Sunday against Dublin, again being introduced off the bench. Limerick were on the losing side on that occasion.
Senior Football Management:
We are welcoming expressions of interest for our Senior Football management team for 2025. Interested parties are asked to email our club secretary on secretary.napiarsaigh.limerick@gaa.ie
Cian Kelly Doing Na Piarsaigh Proud on the International Stage:
Last week came the announcement of Cian Kelly’s appointment to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland. This comes on the back of Cian’s 18 years of service on the DRA. Cian served as Junior B hurling manager for many years, resurrecting the team in 2014 and scoring great success in the 2014 and 2015 City Junior B League. Cian was also part of the Féile na nGael team that reached the All Ireland B final in 1994. His dad Brian is the current club treasurer.
Liam O’Brien – Recognised for his service to East Limerick GAA & Cappamore:
Our own Liam O’Brien was recognised at this year’s East Limerick Gaels Awards for his contributions to Cappamore and Limerick hurling. This was all before his trojan efforts both on and off the field with Na Piarsaigh over the past 30 years. On the night, Chunky was proudly supported by his family and Na Piarsaigh stalwarts Timmy O’Connor, John McKeogh and Joe Heaney. You can read a lovely piece composed by the East Limerick Board on our website.
Battle of The Laurels Goes Coláiste’s Way:
Congrats to Ruth Murray, Eileen Herbert, Caitlin Ryan, Anna Rose Benson and Charlotte Noctor who won the Munster Junior C camogie final over the weekend with Laurel Hill Coláiste, defeating Laurel Hill Bearla in the final. Hard luck to Rosie McCaul who lined out for the opposing side.
