Na Piarsaigh GAA Club Notes:

Senior Hurling:
Saturday evening saw our senior hurlers get off the winning start in the league against Patrickswell at home. A strong all-around performance by what was a very young Na Piarsaigh side. This marked the competitive debut for John O’Keefe who lined out at corner back and a league debut for James Finn, the later having made his first senior appearance in the championship last year. Playing with a strong breeze at our backs, we went in at the break leading by 7 points. Half time score: Na Piarsaigh 0-13 Patrickswell 1-03. The second half was point for point with both sides cancelling each other out on the scoreboard. A solid performance all round with Dylan Lynch quietly knocking over 4 points and Ronan Lynch being very impressive from both frees and open play. The game also saw the return of Tommy Grimes to a Na Piarsaigh jersey having been away travelling for past 2 seasons. It was like the man had never left with him giving a dominant performance and midfield. Our next game sees us taking on Ballybrown at home next Saturday at 18.30. Final score: Na Piarsaigh 0-20 Patrickswell 1-11

Senior Football:
Our senior footballers took on Monaleen last Tuesday night in Maguire’s Pitches, UL. We came away with a spirited 4-pointg defeat in what was our best display of the season so far. Final score: Na Piarsaigh 2-08 Monaleen 2-12

Intermediate Hurling:
Our intermediate hurlers went down to a strong Ahane team in the opening round of the East Senior League on Sunday evening. There were some encouraging phases of play throughout in what were very blustery conditions. A goal separated the sides at half time but we couldn’t seem to take advantage of the strong breeze in the second half. Our second game sees us taking on Cappamore at home next Sunday at 18:30. Final score: Na Piarsaigh 1-14 Ahane 4-14
Team: Evan Condon, Conor Richardson, Mark O’Connor, Padraic Heaney, Jim Beary, James O’Brien (0-02, 1f 1’65), Bradley Moran, Kieran Daly, Pat Gleeson (0-01, 1f), Kevin Daly, Evan Sweeney (0-09, 7f), Pa O’Neill, Josh Sheehan, Kevin Ryan (0-01), Marcus Hogan (1-01). Easter Camp 2024:
Well done to all our young players and coaches who took part in our Easter Camp 2024. We had a lovely group this year that braved the elements and had a thoroughly enjoyable week. See ye all for the next one in July.
Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stake
No joy for our dog, “Da Bould Falcon” in the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake on Saturday night, as we failed to qualify for the semi-final. A big thank you to Timmy and Kathleen for representing the club throughout.
