Na Piarsaigh GAA Club Notes:

Senior Hurlers:
Our senior hurlers were in round 3 action in the Irish Wire County Senior Hurling Championship on Saturday when they travelled to Bruff to take on Doon.
The first half was really impressive with the green flag being raised on four occasions all for ourselves. Adrian Breen began the goals inside 5 minutes and Conor Boylan added another inside the first 15 minutes.
Ronan Lynch added some excellent frees before adding our third goal in the 22 minutes and this was swiftly followed by a fourth goal and Adrian Breen’s second. Peter Casey also contributed handsomely with four first-half points to leave the halftime score at 4-09 to 0-8 in our favor.
The second half was indeed similar but this time it was points we were taking. Some excellent shooting from Wayne Kearns, Emmet McEvoy, and goalkeeper Shane Dowling all adding points.
A good workmanlike performance from the team and one which will satisfy the management as the group begins to hot up.
Final score Na Piarsaigh 4-23 Doon 0-16
Team: Shane Dowling, Emmet McEvoy, Mike Casey(capt), John Fitzgerald, Mike Foley, Kevin Downes, Vince Harrington, Wayne Kearns, JJ Carey, Conor Boylan, David Dempsey, Ronan Lynch, Adrian Breen, Will Henn, Peter Casey

Intermediate Hurlers:
Our second string was also in action in Round 4 of the Premier Intermediate Championship where they faced Blackrock in Bruff on Sunday.
This was a tight affair from start to finish with both teams evenly matched.
Blackrock however were wasteful with their shooting and could have been much further in front at the break. We trailed at the break on an 0-8 to 0-6 scoreline.
It was great to see Alan Dempsey back following injury and he did well in that half alongside Conor Richardson, Mark O Connor and James O Brien.
We worked hard in that second half and into the closing minutes we had leveled the game at 14 points apiece. However, it was Blackrock who finished the stronger with the last three points to win the game on a 0-17 to 0-14 scoreline. A little disappointing as the game was there for the taking especially as we drew level.
We must now dust down and go again this Friday evening in Adare versus Effin.
Team: Evan Condon, Cathal McMullen, Gearoid Synnott, Padraic Heaney, Mark O Connor, James O Brien, Conor Richardson, Dean McLoughlin, Dylan Lynch, James Finn, Pat Gleeson, Kevin Daly, Marcus Hogan, Evan Sweeney, Alan Dempsey
