NA PIARSAIGH GAA.

UNDER 21 HURLERS
Our under 21 hurlers bowed out of this years championship after playing two games in a 4 day period.
First up were Patrickswell in Mick Neville Park in the tail end of the storm.
The game was fine poised for most of the sixty plus minutes but we managed to find our purple patch at a crucial stage in the final quarter and two excellent Pa O Neill goals proving the difference in a 2-15 to 1-14 scoreline.
On Sunday morning we were back out in Rathkeale for our final group game this time against Mungret St Pauls
We had the better of the opening exchanges and led 2-6 to 0-3 inside 15 minutes with our goals coming from Jim Beary and Pa O Neill.
We led at the break 2-7 to 0-9.
In the second half it was Mungret who were more dominant and continued to rack up the points.
Second half sub Keith Dempsey rifled home a 21 yard free to narrow the gap to 4 points entering the last 7 minutes.
Again Mungret added points and in spite of a late Jim Beary goal coming from the rebound of a 21 yard free we couldn’t close the gap and ran out second best on a 1-19 to 4-7 score line.
We wish to thank the team Managment for their efforts and of course the players who gave everything
TOMMY BURTCHAELL TOURNAMENT
We held our annual Tommy Burtchaell tournament which is in memory of Tommy a grweta clubman back in the day.
Teams from Ferrybank, Blarney, St Vincents, Ballybricken, Ahane, Mungret and two Na Piarsaigh teams gave us a feast of hurling throughout the day.
In the end the Na Piarsaigh A team came out on top in a brilliant tournament for them.
We thank Kevin Barry and his merry men for staging another successful day for all concerned.
Well done to all who travelled, organised, refereed, made sandwiches or whatever.
DAN HICKEY MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT
A busy weekend was capped off on Sunday with another memorial tournament , this time in remembrance of club stalwart Dan Hickey.
