NA PIARSAIGH.

UNDER 15 HURLERS
The teams have met on two previous occasions during the year with Ahane narrow victors on both times. However, keeping your best till last certainly applies here and what a time to produce it. It was evident from the throw-in that tension and nerves were high but nevertheless, the hurling was good. Eoin Brosnan was showing his prowess from placed balls and Alex Kearns and David O Keefe also contributed to our first-half tally. A powerful surge through the centre by Daragh Horkan ended up in the hands of Danny Sheehan who rifled the ball past the Ahane netminder. A brilliant score from a brilliant move. Eoin Brosnan kept the board ticking over and by the halftime break we were tied at 1-6 to 0-9.
Our performance improved even more in the second half and you could see that the lads were determined not to be beaten. Eoin Brosnan added 8 points to his tally in the second half with 3 brilliant points from play at crucial times in the half. David O Keefe also added to his tally with 2 excellent points to bring his contribution to 0-3 for the game. Our backs were immense led superbly by Marcus Murphy in goal with Joe Patton, Jack Hannon, and Mike Duggan in the full-back line. Joe Corcoran was brilliant at wing-back winning possession time after time whilst Leo Connolly and Adam Fitzsimons cleared ball all day. Up front, James Butler followed his instructions to a tee with David O Keefe and Eoin Brosnan profiting no end. Danny Sheehan hurled the world of ball and Conor Bermingham work his socks off often found back in his own backline clearing ball.
With time entering the closing stage midfield duo Harry McGann and Darragh Horkan combined to send Darragh clear on goal and he didn’t disappoint with a bullet-like shot to all but seal the contest. The team worked right to the end and when Eamon Stapleton blew the final whistle it was relief all around and a victory well deserved.
Special mention to the Casey brothers Mike and Peter for their trojan work along with Podge Kennedy who was brilliant with the goalkeepers. Richard |O Keefe and Fergal Brosnan who have had this team since Under 10 and have done brilliantly. Doctor Aonghus McGann for his specialist skills all year and Barry O Regan along with his son Ben who had everything in order all year. Congratulations to each and every one of the extended panel on what has been a truly remarkable year
