NA PIARSAIGH
SENIOR HURLERS
In round 3 of the senior hurling championship this weekend we faced old foe Patrickswell in Kilmallock on Saturday evening in what was a wet and windy evening.
We welcomed back Jerome Boylan to competitive action after a lengthy layoff to add to the quality of our back line.
We began well with points from Ronan Lynch and Adrian Breen cancelled out by the Well before Peter Casey finished off a great team move to put us 1-2 to 0-2 inside 7 minutes.
Some excellent hurling from our lads inside that opening half with scores from Will O Donoghue, Will Henn, David Dempsey, and Kevin Downes from placed balls had us firmly in control going in for the half time break. We led at the break 1-13 to 0-6
Our work rate throughout was excellent all over the field and this was highlighted repeatedly with the quality of our scores. Our midfield were on top with Keith Dempsey snapping up loose ball all day and the half backs and half forwards worked tirelessly turning over ball and giving quality possession for scores.
Adrian Breen in particular capitalising with 4 second half points to go with 2 from Peter Casey and a brace from Kevin Downes.
Overall a good performance by the team with much to work on before our next outing against Adare next Saturday in Clarina.
We are now into a quarter final at least with 3 from 3

INTERMEDIATE HURLERS
Our second string was also in action when they faced Murroe Boher in Claughaun on Sunday evening.
A strong breeze blew down the field as we faced it in the first half and we hurled quite well.
It was a game of 2 free takers with Murroe’s number 15 keeping their score rolling whilst the evergreen Pat Gleeson chipped in with 8 points in that half 6 from frees.
Dylan Lynch was our other scorer in the half with two well-taken points. The halftime score was Na Piarsaigh 0-10 Murroe Boher 0-11.
The second half was barely back on when David Sheppard goaled to give us a tonic start but this was cancelled out almost immediately by Murroe.
Shortly after we rattled the net again from the stick of sub-James Daly.
Pat Gleeson added further points as the game was in the melting pot.
With just over 5 minutes left David Sheppard appeared to seal the victory with a second goal from the top drawer.
Murroe answered back with two points before the victory was sealed with late points from Gleeson and Evan Gilvarry to cap a brilliant victory on a 3-15 to 2-15 scoreline.
Overall it was a good dogged performance from Shane Dowling in goal, Niall Buckley at full back , James O Brien at center back, and Dean McLoughlin breaking up the play at midfield with a strong performance and up front, David Sheppard and Dylan Lynch picked off some crucial scores.
We now qualify for the quarter-finals with a game to go against Croom next Thursday

Our Under 15 hurlers were in County semi final action on Saturday lunchtime when they took on Mungret St Pauls in Claughaun GAA Grounds.
This was a truly excellent performance from the lads from the first whistle with some excellent score taking on show.
Eoin Brosnan showing his class form placed balls and in open play contributing nicely to the team’s momentum.
We welcomed back Daragh Horkan from International Basketball duties and he showed no signs of rust with an excellent performance and two goals to his name one in each half.
Overall the team played very well from 1 to 20 with no weakness from any line.
