CAMOGIE AGM 2022:
The AGM for the camogie club took place on Friday the 18th of November in the clubhouse. There was a good attendance with plenty of items to discuss and celebrate after what has been a fantastic year for #MSPCamogie.
Our numbers across all ages are holding strong and we also have plenty of players representing the club at county level, which is just marvellous! The coaches in attendance spoke positively of all the training sessions, matches, blitz’s and much, much more and they are really looking forward to driving on in 2023.
We would like to give a huge thank you to the outgoing Chairperson Grainne O’Shea and Secretary Suzanne O’Rourke for their incredible work and support over the last number of years. The club is in a very healthy position thanks to their endless efforts, a lot of which, goes unseen. The good news is that they have confirmed they won’t be strangers going forward!
Following this AGM, we are looking for nominations for the position of Secretary and Chairperson. We appeal to current mentors, adult players, parents and guardians to take an active role in the management of the club. There is lots of support available and we also welcome people who would take on assistant roles to officers. Please contact Suzanne (Secretary) at secretary.mungret.limerick@camogie.ie
U-21 FOOTBALL
Mungret St. Pauls 2-9 Galbally 1-12
This was a good start for our U-21 footballers who went up against an equally strong Galbally team on Friday 25 November 2022 in UL under lights.
Galbally started the game off quickly getting in two points before Mungret St. Pauls got the put a ball over the bar this we quickly followed up with a fantastic goal, this gave our players a great boost and left Galbally scrambling for scores. Mungret St. Pauls added on another six points with Galbally only scoring half that before the half time whistle giving us a five point lead at half time and with Mungret St. Pauls making use of the breeze in the first half.
It was expected that Galbally would come back in the second half hard and throw everything at us and they did going straight in to score a goal it was our goalie that kept the ball at bay but it still went over for a point. Another two points from Galbally narrowed the gap to two points. There was an exchange of points before Galbally hit back with a point and their only goal of the game after another great save by our goalie the ball landed at the feet of a waiting Galbally player who hit the back of the net. It would be a good few minutes before Mungret St. Pauls kicked a reply of a point from a free and then a chance to score the second goal arose and was perfectly timed as the clock was running out. In the last minute and into injury time Galbally leveled the game. This was not the result we wanted but it was better than a loss.
The next match is against St. Kierans which will not be for a few weeks as St. Kieran are in a Munster Club final with their Junior Hurlers.
