Mungret/St Pauls GAA Club Notes:

U20 Premier Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-9 Monaleen 0-12
Mungret St. Pauls booked their place in the U-20 Premier Football Final with a hard-earned three-point victory over Monaleen in a tense semi-final encounter played in cold but dry conditions at UL North Campus on Saturday 20 December 2025.
Monaleen struck the opening score with a point from play inside the first three minutes, but Mungret St. Pauls responded in emphatic fashion. A brilliant individual run from Killian Begley ended with a well-taken goal, swinging early momentum in Mungret St. Pauls favour. That goal settled the side, and Muiris Aherne added a fine point shortly after with a composed hand-pass over the bar.
Monaleen kept themselves in touch with points from play and a long-range placed ball, while Mungret St. Pauls replied through Mark O’Brien and Kieran Scully, both raising white flags from play. At the short whistle, Mungret St. Pauls held a narrow advantage, leading 1-3 to 0-4, with the contest finely balanced.
Mungret St. Pauls came out with purpose after the restart. Muiris Aherne extended the lead early in the second half before Luke Walsh began to make his influence felt, converting a free and later adding a point from play. Conor Collins also chipped in with an excellent score as Mungret St. Pauls stretched their lead to five points.
Monaleen mounted a strong response midway through the half, scoring four unanswered points, including a two-pointer from a free, to close the gap and put real pressure on the Mungret St. Pauls defence. However, Mungret St. Pauls showed great composure at a crucial stage. Luke Walsh steadied the ship with another free before delivering the defining moment of the match in the 21st minute — finishing a well-worked move to the net for Mungret St. Pauls second goal.
Although Monaleen hit back with two late two-pointers from play to keep the game alive, Mungret St. Pauls remained resilient. Conor Mangan landed an important point to restore breathing space, and the defence held firm in injury time, with Monaleen narrowly missing a late goal chance. The final whistle confirmed a deserved 2-9 to 0-12 victory for Mungret St. Pauls, built on strong teamwork, timely scores, and excellent game management in the closing stages.
Mungret St. Pauls will now face Oola in the U-20 Premier Football Final, which takes place on Saturday, 28 December in Ahane.
