MUNGRET ST PAUL’S GAA CLUB NOTES
JUNIOR B FOOTBALL
Mungret St. Pauls 1-12 Knockaderry 2-9
On a cold, breezy Tuesday night, 22 October our junior footballers took to the pitch in Knocklong under lights for the County Quarter Final against Knockaderry. It was an evenly matched game where our kickouts were not being won and Knockaderry hit the posts 3 times.
Mungret St. Pauls were swift in attack as we headed straight for the goals in the opening minutes but the ball went wide, followed by 2 more wides. Knockaderry did not waste time as they pointed the ball on their first shot. Mungret St. Pauls pointed 3 in as many minutes shortly after to take a lead but only for a few minutes as Knockaderry hammered back with their second point and a goal just on the fifteenth minute. The final quarter of the match, Mungret St. Pauls held Knockaderry from scoring while they knotched up the points to regain the lead before the half time whistle. Mungret St. Pauls 0-8 Knockaderry 1-2.
Knockaderry had a better restart with a pointed free and a mistake punished Mungret St. Pauls with the ball going into the bakc of the net for Knockaderry. There were two points each with Mungret St. Pauls still a point behind and a great goal save pulled off by them, the ball was sent up the field and a pointed free for Mungret St. Pauls leveled the game on the final minute of full time, the game was heading into extra time.
Knockaderry yet again had a stronger restart, the only scores in the first half of extra time came from Knockaderry with 2 points. Again at the restart of the second half Knockaderry scored another point. Mungret St. Pauls was in desperate need of a score and they eventually got lucky as the ball was sent to the back of the Knockaderry net to level the game yet again. There was still five minutes on the clock when Mungret St. Pauls pointed, taking the lead. This did not last long as Knocklong brought the ball into the Mungret St. Pauls defense and pointed with only one minute left. The whistle was blown and both sides left the pitch knowing they will meet each other in the next week.

U-10 FOOTBALL
Well done to our super U-10 footballers who made a trip to Kerry on Saturday 26 October 2019, to play in the Austin Stacks, John Lynch tournament. Mungret St. Pauls had 36 players attending and each of these players had an outstanding performance there were 16 clubs taking part which included 6 Kerry clubs and 2 Dublin clubs but we were delighted to see it was Mungret St. Pauls and Ballincollig who played in the final, unfortunately Mungret St. Pauls were outdone on their last hurdle but they gave a fantastic account of themselves, well done to the coaches this result proves that you are doing a superb job.
