Junior B Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-8 Na Piarsaigh 2-14
Mungret St. Pauls wrapped up their Junior B Hurling Championship group campaign on Monday, 1 September 2025 at home against a strong Na Piarsaigh outfit. Despite battling hard throughout, the visitors’ greater scoring power proved the difference as the game finished 2-14 to 0-8 in favour of Na Piarsaigh.
From the outset, Na Piarsaigh showed their intent, moving the ball well and picking off scores. Mungret St. Pauls worked hard to disrupt their rhythm and found their own points through a mix of frees and efforts from play, but Na Piarsaigh’s ability to create and take goal chances left Mungret St. Pauls facing an uphill battle.
To their credit, the home side never dropped their heads and kept plugging away, with some fine scores taken and younger players gaining valuable experience under pressure. However, Na Piarsaigh’s accuracy in attack stretched the gap as the game wore on, and they closed out the match with a comfortable advantage.
For Mungret St. Pauls, this result brings their group stage to a close, finishing in fourth place on the table. While progression isn’t on the cards this year, the effort and commitment shown by the squad across the campaign has been commendable. With a blend of experienced players and emerging talent, there is plenty to build on for next season.
U16 Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-12 Adare 4-17
Mungret St. Pauls’ U-16 Division 1 hurlers bowed out of the Championship on Monday, 1 September 2025 in Adare, as the home side proved just too strong in a high-scoring encounter. Despite showing great fight and taking some excellent scores, Mungret St. Pauls were undone by Adare’s clinical finishing, particularly their goals either side of half-time, which set the platform for a 4-17 to 3-12 defeat.
The game started at a frantic pace, with Adare opening the scoring from a free before Mungret St. Pauls settled into their rhythm. A sharp point from play was quickly followed by a well-taken goal that gave Mungret St. Pauls an early lead. Adare responded with a couple of points, but midway through the half Mungret St. Pauls pushed further ahead with a string of well-struck scores from play and frees.
However, Adare began to gain momentum after the quarter hour, hitting back with two goals in quick succession and adding a run of points to open up a seven-point gap at the break, 2-12 to 2-5. Mungret St. Pauls second goal of the half had kept them in touch, but the pressure was mounting. The second half followed a similar pattern. Adare struck early with another goal, and though Mungret St. Pauls kept battling, trading frees and points from play, the hosts carried more threat in attack. Mungret St. Pauls perseverance was rewarded with a third goal, this time from a free, and they continued to push until the final whistle, adding further scores from placed balls and a fine late point from play.
Ultimately, though, Adare’s ability to find goals at key moments was decisive, their fourth arriving midway through the second half to kill off any hopes of a comeback.
The 3-12 to 4-17 scoreline ended Mungret St. Pauls campaign, but the players can take pride in their effort, work rate, and moments of real quality throughout the group stages. Their determination never wavered, and the support from parents, coaches, and the wider club community has been immense all year. While this marks the end of the Championship journey, the experience gained will stand this talented group in good stead for the future.
Premier Minor Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-12 Fr. Caseys 2-7
Mungret St. Pauls Premier Minor Footballers booked their place in the Premier Minor Football Championship Cup Final with a hard-fought two-point win over Fr. A superb first-half display laid the foundations, while resilience and a touch of brilliance in goalkeeping kept Mungret St. Pauls in front during a tense second half, sealing a 1-12 to 2-7 victory.
The game opened at pace, with Mungret St. Pauls getting the first score from play inside the opening minute. Fr. Caseys responded strongly, hitting two points before finding the net on eight minutes to take an early four-point lead. Mungret St. Pauls kept their composure, however, and chipped away with points from play and frees, gradually reeling the Abbeyfeale side back in. By the 22nd minute, a superb two-pointer from a placed ball had Mungret St. Pauls ahead for the first time, and moments later a sharp strike for goal capped a dominant spell. As half-time approached, Mungret St. Pauls attacking play continued to shine, with points flowing from both frees and open play to establish a commanding 1-10 to 1-3 advantage at the break. Fr. Caseys came out fighting in the second half, determined to close the gap. Three unanswered points reduced the margin to four before Mungret St. Pauls steadied with another free. The game swung again on 46 minutes when Fr. Caseys broke through for their second goal, suddenly narrowing the lead to just two points.
It was at this stage that Mungret St. Pauls showed real character. A vital point from play pushed the lead out again, and as Fr. Caseys piled forward in search of an equaliser, the Mungret St. Pauls goalkeeper produced a brilliant save that kept the advantage intact. Although Fr. Caseys did add a late point, Mungret St. Pauls discipline and determination saw them home. The final whistle was greeted with delight by players, mentors, and supporters alike, as Mungret St. Pauls sealed their spot in the Cup Final with a 1-12 to 2-7 triumph.
This victory was built on work rate, composure under pressure, and a strong first-half showing. With the Cup Final now on the horizon, the group will take great confidence from overcoming a tough Fr. Caseys outfit in a game that tested every aspect of their play.

Mungret St Pauls 0-12 Monaleen 1-10

Despite matching their opponents score for score for much of the contest, an early Monaleen goal proved decisive as the game finished 1-10 to 0-12.
The game got off to a frantic start with Monaleen striking for a goal and a point inside three minutes. Mungret St. Pauls responded quickly with a fine point from play and, soon after, added scores from a free and another well-worked move to settle into the contest. Both sides traded frees as the first half progressed, with Mungret St. Pauls showing great accuracy from placed balls while Monaleen edged ahead with a mix of frees and scores from play.
As half-time approached, Mungret St. Pauls enjoyed a purple patch, hitting a brace of fine points from play to close the gap to just two at the break, trailing 0-8 to 1-7.
Mungret St. Pauls started the second half brightly, hitting three scores without reply — two from frees and one from play — to take the lead for the first time in the 8th minute of the half. The work rate across the field was immense, with every ball contested and every challenge met. However, Monaleen responded as champions do, finding three points in succession, including a free and two well-taken efforts from play. Mungret St. Pauls fought back once again with a superb point from play to leave just a single score between the sides entering the final stages. Despite a late push and wave after wave of pressure, the levelling score just wouldn’t come. At the final whistle, it was Monaleen who advanced to the final on a 1-10 to 0-12 scoreline, but Mungret St. Pauls could leave the pitch with immense pride after a display of guts, skill, and never-say-die spirit. This was a performance that showed the true character of the group — committed in every tackle, relentless in their running, and accurate in their shooting. Though their Championship journey ends here, the effort of these young players, together with the backing of their parents and coaches, ensures a bright future for Mungret St. Pauls hurling.

The game was sealed in injury time with a fourth goal – a brilliant team move starting deep in defence and finished clinically after a surging run and perfectly timed pass. It was a fitting way to end a strong team performance.

Premier Junior A Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-12 Monagea 2-13
Mungret St. Pauls produced a thrilling late comeback in Askeaton on Saturday, 6 September 2025 but ultimately came up just short, falling to Monagea by the narrowest of margins in Round 3 of the Premier Junior A Football Championship. A spirited second-half surge, which included two goals in the final minutes, left the crowd on their feet, but Monagea held on for a 2-13 to 2-12 victory.
The game began at a frantic pace, with Monagea settling quicker, firing over the opening two scores and then raising the first green flag of the day on ten minutes. That goal, followed swiftly by two more points, left Mungret St. Pauls trailing by four. To their credit, Mungret St. Pauls rallied with a brace of well-taken scores and kept the scoreboard ticking, narrowing the margin to a single point by the 24th minute.
However, a second Monagea goal just before the break proved a sucker punch, and with further points added in stoppage time, Mungret St. Pauls went in at the interval seven points adrift, 2-7 to 0-6. The second half began in similar fashion, Monagea adding four unanswered points to stretch their lead to nine. Mungret St. Pauls task looked daunting, but they slowly worked their way back into the contest, with scores from frees and play bringing the margin down. The game was paused midway through the half as a Monagea player required a stretcher; as it was Mungret St. Pauls members who came to the aid of the injured player, a fine gesture of community spirit. On the resumption, Monagea pushed their tally to 2-13, but it was Mungret St. Pauls who dominated the final ten minutes. A series of points reduced the gap before a well-taken goal lit the spark of a comeback. Momentum firmly shifted, and when a second Mungret St. Pauls goal hit the net deep into injury time, just a single point separated the sides. The final whistle, however, arrived seconds later, denying Mungret St. Pauls the chance to find an equaliser their efforts so richly deserved.
While defeat was the outcome, Mungret St. Pauls stirring late rally showed great character and leaves plenty of positives to take into the remaining two group games. With one win already on the board, Mungret St. Pauls sit second from bottom, but with performances like this, they will feel they can climb the table yet.
Junior Football:
Mungret/St. Pauls 0-8 Banogue 1-9
Mungret/St. Pauls fell to defeat against Banogue on Sunday, 7 September 2025 in the Bog Garden, Rathkeale, as a strong second-half surge from the opposition proved decisive in this Junior A Football Championship clash. Despite a spirited finish from Mungret St. Pauls, Banogue’s first-half lead and well-taken second-half goal left too much ground to make up, with the game ending 1-9 to 0-8 in favour of the West Limerick side.
Banogue were first to settle into the contest, clipping over two points from play inside the opening seven minutes. Mungret St. Pauls responded well midway through the half with two quickfire points, levelling the game after 12 minutes. However, Banogue took control approaching the break, adding three unanswered scores to leave Mungret St. Pauls trailing 0-5 to 0-2 at half-time.
The restart saw Mungret St. Pauls narrow the margin with a pointed free, but Banogue struck a crucial blow moments later with the game’s only goal on 39 minutes, opening up a five-point gap. To their credit, Mungret St. Pauls refused to lie down, hitting back with two points in succession and reducing the deficit to three. While Banogue added a flurry of scores midway through the half, Mungret St. Pauls kept battling, with frees and scores from play keeping the contest alive right to the closing stages. A final point deep into injury time brought the margin back to four, but the earlier goal proved the difference as Banogue held on for the win. The result leaves Mungret St. Pauls at the foot of the group with one draw and two defeats, but with two games still to come, there remains plenty to play for. Strong spells of football, particularly in the second half, will give encouragement heading into the remaining fixtures as Mungret St. Pauls look to turn performances into points on the table.
