Emmas 7s:
On Saturday 26th July, the first Emma’s 7s Perpetual Cup event was held in Ballybricken GAA pitch organised by St. Ailbes LGFA Club. It was an invitational event where the Mungret ladies football team along with 9 other teams took part in a 7-a-side blitz. It was also a fundraising event for Milford Hospice and held in memory of St. Ailbes player Emma McGuire. It was a fantastic day, with the sun shining and some Zumba to kickstart the day. Each team played the four teams in their group, with the top team from each group competing in the final. The Mungret ladies won two of their games and St. Ailbe’s yellow team were the winners on the day. Congratulations to everyone involved in organising such a special event and well done to all Mungret players for taking part.

U16 Ladies Football:
Mungret 3-09 Feohanagh/Castlemahon 3-06
Huge well done to Mungret’s U16 Red Team who battled hard for their third win from three group games on Monday 28th July. It was a very wet evening and Feohanagh Castlemahon started off strong scoring two goals early on in the game. The Mungret girls soon settled into the game and created some fantastic scoring opportunities. Mungret led at half time 3-04 to 2-02. The second half saw the wet conditions worsen and Feohanagh Castlemahon managed to bring the game back to a draw with 10 minutes to go. The Mungret girls dug deep and scored three crucial points along with a fantastic save from goalie Olivia in the last few minutes to secure their win. Well done to all involved on a super championship campaign so far. Best of luck to the White team who play Ballylanders on Tuesday 29th July.

The girls fought right to the bitter end and were unlucky not to close the gap at full time.

U-16 Football:
Mixed Fortunes for U-16 Footballers in Competitive Monday Fixtures. It was a busy evening for Mungret St. Pauls U-16 footballers on Monday, 28 July 2025 with both our Division 1 and Division 3 panels in action away from home—and delivering performances full of commitment, skill, and determination.

U-16 Division 1:
Our Division 1 team travelled to Caherdavin to take on Na Piarsaigh in what turned out to be a commanding display from the group. From the opening whistle, Mungret St. Pauls set the tone with sharp movement, confident kick-passing, and clinical finishing. The team built a strong platform early on and maintained control throughout the game, showing great teamwork both in defence and attack.
The first half saw Mungret St. Pauls dominate possession and take their scoring chances well, with the forwards linking up seamlessly and the midfield pairing breaking plenty of ball. The back line remained alert and solid, ensuring Na Piarsaigh found few opportunities to gain a foothold. The second half saw much of the same, as our lads continued to push forward while keeping their structure and discipline.
It was a performance that underlined the work this group has been putting in throughout the year, and it leaves them well placed as the championship campaign continues.

U-16 Division 3:
Meanwhile, our Division 3 team lined out in Crescent Comprehensive to face a well-organised South Liberties/Crecora-Manister side in what proved to be a tight and competitive encounter.
Mungret St. Pauls edged the first half, showing good defensive structure and smart use of the ball going forward. The players showed great awareness and composure to create scoring opportunities and held a narrow lead at the break.
However, the second half brought a strong resurgence from South Liberties/Crecora, who lifted their intensity and capitalised on their chances as the game wore on. Despite a determined effort from Mungret St. Pauls, including some excellent passages of play and committed defending, the opposition managed to swing the momentum in their favour and close out the game.
It was a learning experience for this young side, who can take plenty of positives from the performance, especially their disciplined first half and moments of attacking promise throughout.

Premier Minor Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-16 Kilmallock 2-16
Our Premier Minor Hurlers put in a stirring performance on Wednesday evening, 30 July 2025 in Kilmallock, sharing the spoils after a dramatic and high-quality contest that went right down to the final whistle.
Played in breezy conditions, the match opened at a frantic pace, with Kilmallock making the early breakthrough with a goal from play. Mungret St. Pauls responded well, working hard to stay in touch through accurate free-taking and hard-won scores from play. A standout moment came in the 21st minute, when a superb point from near the sideline levelled the game for the first time, showcasing the skill and composure in the Mungret St. Pauls attack.
However, a second Kilmallock goal just two minutes later gave the hosts a slight edge heading into the break, with Mungret St. Pauls trailing by four points at halftime.
The second half saw a fantastic response from our lads. A well-worked goal just four minutes after the restart brought the sides to within a point, and from there, the tempo of the game lifted further. Points were exchanged in a gripping back-and-forth battle, with Mungret St. Pauls eventually drawing level and then nudging ahead thanks to a run of excellent scores from play.
A second Mungret St. Pauls goal in the dying minutes looked to have sealed a memorable victory, but extra time saw Kilmallock register two late points—one from a free and another from play—to ensure both sides left with a share of the spoils.
This was a high-quality, fiercely competitive match, and Mungret St. Pauls can take great pride in the character, determination, and skill shown throughout the championship. Every line of the field stood up to the challenge, with both individual brilliance and strong team play on display.
Well done and Thank you to all involved, this was a performance full of heart and promise as the championship came to a close for Mungret St. Pauls.

U14 Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-13 Doon 1-8
Mungret St. Pauls’ U-14 hurlers delivered a gritty and composed performance on Thursday 31 July 2025 to claim a narrow but deserved win over a strong Doon side in a fiercely contested Division 1 Championship encounter.
Playing away from home, Mungret St. Pauls showed maturity beyond their years, settling quickly into the game and finding early scores to set the tone. The lads worked tirelessly across the field, with sharp passing, clever movement, and a strong work ethic evident from the throw-in.
Despite Doon raising a green flag to tighten the contest, Mungret St. Pauls never panicked. The response was immediate and determined, with Mungret St. Pauls continuing to keep the scoreboard ticking over through well-taken points, including some excellent long-range efforts and frees under pressure.
The second half saw the intensity rise further as both sides battled for every ball. Mungret St. Pauls defence stood tall during a period of sustained pressure, with key interceptions and clearances ensuring that Doon’s goal remained their only major of the night. In attack, Mungret St. Pauls ability to take their points proved crucial, as they calmly added to their tally while denying Doon space at the other end.
When the final whistle blew, Mungret St. Pauls emerged victorious by two points—an outstanding team effort that showcased skill, teamwork, and a relentless desire to win.
Credit goes to the players and management for a disciplined and focused performance. Every player played their part in what was a great evening for the club. Well done to all involved! After five games Mungret St. Pauls see themselves sitting in the middle of the group table with one game left to play against Ballybrown.

U11 Hurling:
Part 3 of the Mungret St. Paul’s U-11 Summer Road Trip Series took the boys to the impressive Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Friday, 1st August. Having already visited the iconic Croke Park and Cusack Park in Ennis, this latest adventure was another memorable milestone.
The team faced strong opposition from three Cork clubs – Ballincollig, St. Vincent’s, and Aghada – showcasing some fantastic hurling along the way. After the games, the boys enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium, including the dressing rooms and gym facilities.

Senior Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-17 Newcastle West 2-14
Senior Hurlers share the points after a strong performance in Mick Neville Park in the opening round of the Championship.
Mungret St. Pauls and Newcastle West played out a dramatic and hard-fought draw on Friday 1 August 2025, with both sides finishing level after an intense battle.
Mungret St. Pauls burst out of the blocks with real intent, setting the tempo from the first whistle. An early goal, well finished after a sharp attacking move, helped open up a commanding lead by the seventh minute. Points from both play and placed balls saw Mungret St. Pauls dominate much of the first half, controlling possession and dictating the pace of the game. At one stage, the lead stretched to eight points as our forwards moved smartly and the defence kept Newcastle West largely at bay.
A late flurry of scores from Newcastle West before the break reduced the deficit, but Mungret St. Pauls still held a deserved seven-point advantage at halftime.
The second half saw a shift in momentum as Newcastle West struck with two quick goals, one shortly after the restart and another just past the 40-minute mark, which brought the sides level and ignited the contest. Despite these setbacks, Mungret St. Pauls showed great composure and continued to respond with well-taken points, keeping the pressure on throughout.
The final stages were tense and finely balanced, with both sides trading scores and the result hanging in the balance right up to the final whistle. Mungret St. Pauls had several chances to edge the win but were left to rue a high wide count, tallying 18 wides over the hour.
While the draw may feel like a missed opportunity after such a dominant opening half, there were some positives to take from the performance: disciplined defending, well-worked scores, and long spells of controlled play. The group will be eager to sharpen up in front of goal and push on in the remaining rounds.

U13 Hurling:
Congratulations to our Mungret St. Paul’s U-13 Hurlers who emerged victorious at the Corn Gharaí Uí Dhuiffin 2025 tournament in Páirc Ciocam, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary on Saturday, 2nd August 2025.
A fantastic achievement for the boys who showed great skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the day. Well done to all involved!

Players Abroad:
Well done to Mungret St. Pauls’ own Frank Corcoran, Oisín Moss, and Darragh Bridgeman who are proudly keeping up their training while abroad.
The boys, currently lining out with The Wild Geese Football team in Orange County, played a key role in their team’s Championship victory on Saturday, 2 August. Congratulations and well done to all involved!

Intermediate Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-14 Feenagh Kilmeedy 3-21
Mungret St. Pauls suffered a tough defeat in wet and testing conditions in Rathkeale on Saturday, 2 August 2025, as a physically sharp and clinical Feenagh-Kilmeedy side took full control of proceedings in the first round of the Intermediate Hurling Championship.
Trailing 0-7 to 1-14 at the interval, Mungret St. Pauls faced an uphill battle after a powerful first-half display from Feenagh-Kilmeedy that saw them take their goal well and tack on a string of unanswered points in the final minutes before the break.
Despite the difficult scoreboard, our lads showed admirable grit and work rate in the second half. Mungret St. Pauls began to find more consistency with their shooting, registering seven points in a spirited second-half performance. However, the damage was largely done in the opening period.
While the result is disappointing, the effort and commitment shown—particularly in the second half—was heartening. The group will now regroup, learn from this experience, and refocus for the upcoming fixtures in the group. There’s plenty of hurling left to play, and this panel has the determination to bounce back stronger.
A sincere thanks to the loyal supporters who braved the rain to back the team—it’s always appreciated.
