Mungret/St Pauls GAA Club Notes:

Limerick Camogie:
It was a tough day at the office for the 2 Limerick U16 squads as they had a double header V Tipperary this Sunday.
The A squad headed to TUS where they were gutted to come away with a 1 point loss:
Tipperary 0-10 Limerick 0-09
The B squad travelled to Kilmallock and put up a good fight, but unfortunately Tipperary overcame them with a full time score: Tipperary 1-10 Limerick 2-04
Hard luck to our players Abbey Nealon, Roisin O’Neill, Aoife Boyce & congratulations to Saoirse Aherne, as this was her first time togging out in the Green and White of Limerick.
The Limerick Minors were in Cappoquin where they faced off against a strong Waterford team in the Munster Preliminary Round and were delighted to come away with the win! Well done to our very own Jayne Casey.
Full time score: Waterford 1-10 Limerick 2-12
U17 Well done to MSPCamogies Niamh Stackpoole who along with her teammates played the Kerry Minor Camogie team this weekend in a challenge match.

U16 Camogie:
Our U16 Camogie squad have settled in nicely to Train Gyms (Dock Road) Limerick under the watchful eye of Megan and Eimear. A top class, supportive and inclusive environment for the girls to train in, couldn’t recommend it enough.

Well done to all the #MSPCamogie crew who were part of the Mungret Community College Senior Camogie team who took on Ballincollig CS recently and won themselves a place in the Munster Semi Final!!!
Congratulations girls and the very best of luck in the Semi!! Keep an eye on our socials for fixture. Best of luck girls!

Ladies Football:
Well done to the 12 ladies who wore the green of Limerick at the weekend. In a u14 challenge against Laois, Kate Ryan, Sadhbh Hanley and Sophie Lynch gave a great display of football.
At U16 level Maria Conway, Sive Finnerty, Sophia Neville and Emma Somers played against a Cork side in Charleville.
And well done to the 5 minors Cameryn Moloney, Grace Morgan, Molly O Mahony, Cáit Murphy and Caoimhe Hennessey who played excellent Football against Offaly in UL.

Fundraising:
Mungret senior Hurlers are running a fundraiser for the year. Any support would be greatly appreciated.
The fundraiser is ‘Beat the Drop’. Each week there will be a yes/no question based off of an upcoming match that weekend with the first weeks question being,
“Will Limerick beat Cork in the first round of the national hurling league? “
If answered correctly the person moves to the next week, if not then they’re eliminated. Answers each week will have to be submitted by the Friday night and the next question will be released at the end of that weekend. Entry is €10 with a prize of €500 for the winner.
Any questions or if you want to get involved contact any of the names on the poster or any senior hurling panel member.
County Football:
The opening round of the Allianz Football League took place on Sunday 26 January in Longford with both sides getting to grips with the new rules. Mungret St. Pauls are delighted to have both Killian Ryan and Darragh O’Hagan in action on the pitch and Michéal Cahill and Pa Ranahan involved in the coaching. It was unlucky for Limerick that Longford got in a last minute score to level the game. The next round is in Mick Neville Park on Sunday 2 February at 2pm against Wexford.

County Hurling:
The Limerick Senior Hurlers had a challenge match against Waterford on Sunday 26 January in TUS Gaelic Grounds. This was a great display of hurling for the supporters. Mungret St. Pauls are delighted to have club player, Fintan Fitzgerald coming on and scoring a point for Limerick with the Treaty side taking the win by the final whistle. The first round match of the Allianz hurling league is on Saturday evening, 1 February, against Cork in SuperValu Pairc Ui Chaoimh at 7:30pm.
