Mungret/St Pauls GAA Club Notes:
Junior B Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-6 St. Kierans 1-19
It was a dry afternoon on Sunday 3 November 2024 in Askeaton when our Junior B Footballers played St. Kierans in the County final. It was not to be Mungret St. Pauls day as they struggled to settle from the start with St. Kierans more on target with their shots.
The game started out with pressure on the St. Kierans goalie as Mungret St. Pauls had two attempts on quick scores but both bounced off the St. Kierans goalie. St. Kierans had built up a goal and three points before Mungret St. Pauls got off the mark with a point. St. Kierans went on to score another four points before Mungret St. Pauls pointed their second point of the game, with St. Kierans adding one more point before the half time whistle.
Back out and St. Kierans continued to extend their lead with another four points before Mungret St. Pauls got their first point of the half after ten minutes. An exchange of points before St. Kierans went on to add another three points. Mungret St. Pauls then hit a rhythm as they hit two points in as many minutes but St. Kierans finished out the game in style as they confirmed their win.
Well done to our players for their commitment throughout the year and Congratulations on wining the City Championship earlier.

U-20 Premier Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-13 Doon 0-17
It was a dry evening on Thursday 7 November 2024 when Doon and Mungret St. Pauls met under lights in Caherdavin in the U-20 Premier Hurling Championship. This was a tough match with all players giving everything they had. Doon had the better start but Mungret St. Pauls soon caught up and earned a three point lead in the closing of the first fifteen minutes. The next three scores leveled the game followed by both sides exchanging scores to leave the half time score with both sides on nine points each.
Both sides opened the game with a point each, Doon were awarded a free infront of the goals, they went for a three pointer but it was swiftly denied by the Mungret St. Pauls goalie. Both sides exchanged scores again. Doon then went three points up with Mungret St. Pauls replying with a free, but it was Doon who finished the game off with another two points to take the win. This left Mungret St. Pauls in second place with one game left to play in the group with Doon in first place.
U-20 Premier Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-7 Fr. Caseys 3-6
On Friday 8 November 2024 in UL North Campus our U-20 Premier Footballers played their first match against Fr. Caseys. This was a fast pace match with more than half of our players having played the night before, they left everything they had on the pitch.
The first point in the match came from Fr. Caseys on the sixth minute, this was followed up by Mungret St. Pauls first point. There was a lot of movement of the ball with it seeing a lot of both ends of the pitch but it was Fr. Caseys who hit the net with two goals, Mungret St. Pauls replied with two points but the half time score was 0-3 to 2-1.
The second half restarted with Fr. Caseys coming out hard again as they struck their third goal and a second point. The next six points were shared between the two sides, going into the last ten minutes of the game and it was this stage that Mungret St. Pauls got their chance to hit a three pointer. There was only one more point to each side before the final whistle with Mungret St. Pauls coming off in second place with one more match to play against Oola in two weeks time.
U-20 Premier Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-18 Kildimo Pallaskenry 1-14
It was a lovely afternoon on Sunday 10 November 2024 in Adare when Mungret St. Pauls U-20 Premier Hurlers played Kildimo Pallaskenry in the last of their group matches. This was a great game with all the players putting everything they had left in their tank into the game, especially our dual players who played three matches within three days.
Mungret St. Pauls had a two point lead before Kildimo Pallaskenry got their first point. Just on the fifteen minute mark both sides were level on three points each, Mungret St. Pauls then pushed on and added another two points with Kildimo Pallaskenry shotting a point from a free and in the same minute Mungret St. Pauls scored a goal from the puck out leaving four points seperating the two sides. Kildimo Pallaskenry managed to work the ball and score two points from play but Mungret St. Pauls were on their toes as they added on another three points before the half time whistle leaving the two sides being seperated by five points. Mungret St. Pauls 1-8 Kildimo Pallaskenry 0-6. It was not the best of restarts for Mungret St. Pauls as they sent four balls to the wrong side of the uprights while Kildimo Pallaskenry pointed two from frees, this was followed up by a Mungret St. Pauls point either side of a great Kildimo Pallaskenry point from a sideline. Mungret St. Pauls still held the lead with four points but the last few games were starting to show when Kildimo Pallaskenry pointed another two from placed balls. Mungret St. Pauls extended the lead to three when they pointed another free. There was a few minutes of excitement with both goalies seeing the action, Mungret St. Pauls goalie snatching the ball in mid flight while at the other end the Kildimo Pallaskenry goalie managed to keep the ball away from the line and back out to play. Mungret St. Pauls answered Kildimo Pallaskenrys next point with two of their own leaving only four points between the two sides. It only took Kildimo Pallaskenry three minutes to draw the game with a goal and a point. One more exchange of points before Mungret St. Pauls finished the game with what energy they had left, scoring four points.
A great game for Mungret St. Pauls who were unlucky to miss 11 chances while ten of Kildimo Pallaskenrys scores came from frees. This win leaves Mungret St. Pauls in second place on the table under Doon who still have one more game to play, the players get a well deserved rest.
