U-16 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 5-7 Kildimo Pallaskenry 0-7
The sun was shining on Saturday 19 October in Mick Neville Park when Mungret St. Pauls and Kildimo Pallaskenry played for the Division 1 Football Championship. It was not the best start for our 16 year olds but once the first score went in there was no stopping them.
Kildimo Pallaskenry built up a three point lead before Mungret St. Pauls settled into the game as they headed into the second quarter of the game and they managed to level the game with the first score of a goal. Once this was on the score board Mungret St. Pauls just kept putting the ball over the bar and into the back of the net leaving the pitch at half time with 3-3 scored while Kildimo Pallaskenry were on 0-3.
Mungret St. Pauls scored the opening point after the restart but it was Kildimo Pallaskenry who worked hard and added on another two points to their score. Mungret St. Pauls matched Kildimo Pallaskenrys points who followed up with their sixth point but Mungret St. Pauls were trigger happy as a ball hit the net for the forth time. The scores kept coming for Mungret St. Pauls as they added another goal and a point before Kildimo Pallaskenry scored what was the final point of the game. This was a great game for Mungret St. Pauls as they proved too strong for Kildimo Pallaskenry and celebrated on achieving what very few have done in the club, winning both the hurling and football Division 1 cups. This team have also won the Division 1 Football cup at U-14 and U-15 along with having a National Féile win from last year. Captain Jack O’Sullivan accepted the cup from Bord na nOgs Gerard McNamara on behalf of the team. We would like to express our thanks to the very generous sponsorship of jerseys from COBI Sports for the U-16 Football and Hurling teams.

Mungret St. Pauls 0-11 Knockaderry 1-6
It was a dry day in Cappagh on Saturday 19 October 2024 when Mungret St. Pauls and Knockaderry played in the Junior B Football County Semi Final. This was a very tight game with many breath taking moments and Mungret St. Pauls getting over the line in injury time.
A steady start for Mungret St. Pauls as they went four points up before Knockaderry got their scores going and in three shots they had a one point lead. There was an exchange of points before the break with Knockaderry still holding the one point lead 1-3 to 0-5.
The restart saw no scores for most of the first quarter before Knockderry got a point, two points from Mungret St. Pauls in the following few minutes saw both sides level and all to play for. Coming into the closing minutes of the game both sides added on another two points keeping the game on an equal score. Into injury time it was down to the wire, a free for Mungret St. Pauls saw them secure the lead, this was followed up with a second point from play to guarantee the win and progression into the County Final in the next few weeks. Senior Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-8 Fr. Caseys 0-9
With a storm threatening, the wind was very strong and the rain starting and stopping throughout the 60 minutes on Sunday 20 October 2024 in Newcastle West there were great crowds to support the Senior Football Semi Final between Mungret St. Pauls and Fr. Caseys.
This was not a match for anyone with a heart condition with the unpredictable breeze deciding where the ball would go, every player had to work hard to make sure the pass was good and any fumble could lead to an opposition score which is how Fr. Caseys got their first point, Mungret St Pauls got in a point shortly after. Fr. Caseys then worked the ball well up the pitch into the breeze to get their second point of the game. An immediate response from Mungret St. Pauls from an acute angle drew the game for the second time. The next five minutes saw Mungret St. Pauls point three frees. Fr. Caseys took their next chance to score a point, with the final few minutes of the first half left, a long range shot with the aid of the breeze confirmed a three point lead to Mungret St. Pauls at the break. Half time score was 0-6 to 0-3.
Winning the ball from the throw in, Mungret St. Pauls extended the lead to four points. Fr. Caseys with the help of the wind went on to take the lead scoring five points with no reply. There were a few shots aimed at the Mungret St. Pauls goals but they were deflected away. There then was an attempt for a goal for Mungret St. Pauls after a shot for a point came back off the upright and a fisted ball then bounced back off the goal post. Another point for Fr. Caseys as full time was closing gave them a two point lead. Just on the sixty minutes, Mungret St. Pauls got their second point of the half leaving them one point behind, there were three minutes and time to draw the game. Mungret St. Pauls pushed hard to keep the ball in the Fr. Caseys defence but with only seconds left the last kick went the wrong side of the uprights to leave Fr. Caseys going on to the Final against Adare.
Getting to a Semi Final in the first year after promotion to Senior was a fantastic achievement that the Mungret St. Pauls players should be proud of, they have worked up great experience for next years championship. Well done to all, Mungret St. Pauls are very proud of your hard work and dedication throughout the year.
