Ladies Football:
On Saturday 17th August, our Intermediate Ladies Football Team began their Intermediate Championship campaign in Knockainey GAA pitch against St. Brigid’s LGFA. Throw in was at 7pm and conditions were perfect for the match. Mungret put the first few scores on the scoreboard with the forwards displaying some great passages of play and scoring 4 very good points. Mungret showed exemplary teamwork and support play from every corner of the field and the scores kept coming for the girls, including an impressive 4 goals from Aoife Morrissey and another from Claire Coughlan. St. Brigid’s kept battling until the final whistle scoring a very impressive goal from play too. Mungret came away with the win with a final score of Mungret 5-15, St. Brigid’s 1-3. Many thanks to the referee and Knockainey for the use of their facilities.
Some of the girls have added Mungret coloured bows to their match attire for good luck! The girls are out again next Sunday against Adare. Best of luck girls.

U-16 Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-15 Monaleen 4-7
It was a lovely evening on Monday 19 August 2024 when our Division 3 Footballers played Monaleen in Mungret Senior Pitch in the last round of the group. Both teams were the second team of their club and both were at the bottom of the group so the outcome of this match would make no difference to their place on the table. This is what made for a great match where both sides had their run of scores but it was Monaleen who lead in the first half as they scored their first goal but it was quickly equaled by Mungret St. Pauls. Only a point seperated the two sides by the end of the thirty minutes.
The second half saw Mungret St. Pauls quieten Monaleen for the first quarter as they produced six points and a goal to go nine points up, Monaleen then hit back with three goals and a point to regain the lead but only for a few minutes as Mungret St. Pauls finished out the game in style with their third goal and two more points to win by 5 points. It is not often this Mungret St. Pauls team beat Monaleen so it was a great victory for them. This now sees them finished for the season but they prepare for next year to compete in Division 1.
Thank you to the coaches, players and supporters for their commitment throughout the year, enjoy the break.
Junior B Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-16 Kildimo Pallaskenry 1-22
It was a tough match for our Junior B Hurlers with quite a young team for Mungret St. Pauls they played into a strong breeze in Kildimo on Tuesday 21 August 2024 in their second round match. Kildimo Pallaskenrys puck outs were landing at the feet of our goalie which put a lot of pressure on our backs to clear the ball away but they did very well with the goalie taking charge and catching some high balls coming into danger. Mungret St. Pauls kept in touch with the Kildimo Pallaskenry score in the first half before the hosts hit four scores in a row finishing the first half with a 0-6 to 0-14 lead.
Kildimo Pallaskenry returned to play strong as they pointed four sliotars and a goal to Mungret St. Pauls only point in the third quarter. The last quarter was Mungret St. Pauls best as they were putting the breeze to good use getting nine of their points but unfortunatly for them it was just not enough to take the win. They now play Crecora Manister next week who are just under them in the group table.
Condolences:
Condolences to the Barry family on the passing of Pat, mother to Seanie, mother in law to Trish, grandmother to players Brian and Shane, to their extended family and friends.

Premier Junior A Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 3-10 Kilteely Dromkeen 1-14
Meanus was the venue for the Premier Junior A Football match where Mungret St. Pauls were still searching for their first win, the opposition Kilteely Dromkeen had already secured one win and seeking a second.
This was a lovely game of football but it was the strong breeze in Kilteely Dromkeens favour that predicted where the ball would go. While Mungret St. Pauls opened the game with the first point it was Kilteely Dromkeen that were putting the ball over the crossbar as they built up a seven point lead. With only five minutes left to the break Mungret St. Pauls Eoin P Ryan, saw his chance and made the move to goals only to be taken down just outside the square but a fantastic kick from Eoin P Ryan while still lying on the ground with two Kilteely Dromkeen players over him saw him connect with the ball and past the goalie boosting the team on to get another point before the whistle stopped the game just as Kilteely Dromkeen pointed the last ball of the first half.
The second half saw Mungret St. Pauls benefit from the breeze as they took the lead after the first four scores from the restart, with their second goal coming from the right hand side of the pitch, past the Kilteely Dromkeen defender and into the bottom left of the goal. It was this score that Mungret St. Pauls needed, the boost to know they had the winning of the game in their hands and they continued with another point and the last goal of the game with Kilteely only getting in three points. Mungret St. Pauls were pushing hard at the Kilteely Dromkeen kickouts and punished them with return scores, extending the lead. Into the final minutes of injury time the opposition managed to work the ball up through our very hard working defenders and the occasional forward who returned to help out only to get a ball past the Mungret St. Pauls goalie with the final goal and score of the game. It was Mungret St. Pauls that were the victors by two points as they celebrated their first win having being promoted to Premier Junior A Football this year. They now need to build on this and bring it into the last of the group games which is not until the second week in September against Feenagh Kilmeedy.

Ryan (1-1), Conor White, Luke Walsh (1-2), Eoin G. Ryan (0-4, 0-2 from frees), Liam Moran (1-1), David Burke (0-1), Sean Moran, Martin Gallagher, Stephen Dilworth.
Senior Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 4-8 Ballylanders 0-6
On Thursday 22 August 2024 our Senior Footballers played in the fourth round of the group against Ballylanders in Kilteely. The rain never let up throughout the game which made conditions tough for the players.
Mungret St. Pauls were 1-2 up before Ballylanders leveled the game with the next five points. Mungret St. Pauls in search of a much needed score received it in a well taken goal. The next score came from Ballylanders but it was Mungret St. Pauls that finished the half out when pressure on the Ballylanders goalie made him send the ball out for a 45 which was perfectly kicked over the black spot leaving the half time score as 2-3 to 0-6.
The second half was Mungret St. Pauls game as Ballylanders failed to score and Mungret St. Pauls produced some lovely football. This win secures a Mungret St. Pauls Semi Final with one game left to play against St. Kierans in the second week in September.

Junior B Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 4-6 Kildimo Pallaskenry 2-8
The City Junior B Football Semi Final against Kildimo Pallaskenry took place in Crecora on Saturday 24 August 2024. This was a tight game where the goals scored by Mungret St. Pauls were vital and came at the right time. Kildimo Pallaskenry hit hard with points as Mungret St. Pauls played the ball up the pitch and held tough until there was a chance to score a goal. They now wait for the fixture for the final.
Cúl Camp:
Well done to all our young players who attended our Cul Camp last week. We had over 350 children taking part and it was all run smoothly, the weather was not the best but it did not seem to disappoint the children. Mungret St. Pauls were delighted to have some of our own club players there are coaches again this year. We would like to Thank all our club volunteers who helped with the parking during the week.
