Mungret/St Pauls GAA Club Notes:
Limerick Players:
Well done to our U15 Limerick Camogie county players Aoife Boyce, Abbey Nealon and Roisin O’Neill, who were part of the squads who welcomed Waterford and Tipperary to Cappamore on Saturday for the final round round robin games.
Great to see club representation at county level – some great competitive matches on the day – well done all involved! The Academy footballers played over the weekend. The U-16 footballers played Wicklow away where they had a narrow loss, the team was captained by our own player Amhlaoibh Bohane with Jack Dervan starting full forward with Jamie Curtain unavailable.

The U-15 football team also played Wicklow in Rathkeale. One team were beaten and the second scored a great goal in the final minute to secure a draw. Mungret St. Pauls had Adam Bennett playing with Cathal Sweeney currently injured.
The U-14 Football team played Cork and Waterford in Staker Wallace. The two Cork teams were played first, we were narrowly beaten in both. Seán Casey played in midfield. Padraig Ahern played very solid at corner back. Both teams played Waterford next and won both very easily. Both Sam Newman and Flynn Kelly were unavailable on the day. Well done to all our footballers for representing Mungret/St. Pauls.
U13 Camogie:
We are delighted to see our U13 A team reach the county semi final after qualifying out of a very strong group against Newcastle West Camogie Killeedy Camogie Club & Granagh/Ballingarry Camogie Club. We now take on neighbours Ballybrown Camogie Club in the semi at home on Monday night. Well done to the team so far led by Captains in the following order: Sadhbh Hanley, Sophie Lynch and Alannah Robertson
U16 Camogie:
Tuesday night our U16s travelled to Bruree for the league final – and although it wasn’t their night on the pitch, they weren’t long bouncing back when they congregated at The Hungry Lyons afterwards alongside management & family for a bite to eat.
“Teams that don’t bond, don’t learn” – and they certainly did both that last night.
We were also delighted to see THREE sets of sisters* (Hanleys, O’Neills & Nealons) don the red and white of #MSPCamogie together last night on the pitch!
(*We don’t know how well they get on at home, but they put on a united front for the 10 seconds it took to take this picture!) Thanks to Referee John O’Donnell for a great job on the whistle).
Ladies Football:
Well done to the Junior side who had a great win over Ballylanders in the division 4 All County league semi final this week. They go on to play the winners of GalteeGaels or St.Senans in two weeks time. Well done to the Gaelic4Mothers&Others Squad who organised a Blitz to celebrate 50 years of Ladies Gaelic Football, last Friday evening. Participanting teams were Ahane, Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan, Ballybrown, Cratloe St. Brigids, St. Patricks and Wolfe Tones. A festival of football was enjoyed by all. Interested in joining? Contact Cath Murphy for further information.
U-16 Football:
Mungret/St. Pauls 1-11 ABK Desmonds 6-11
On Monday 8 July in Askeaton our division 3 footballers played ABK Desmonds, this is our second team in this group and with holidays looked to the U-14 group to field the team. A game of two halves where it was really put up to Mungret/St. Pauls in the first half but they held their own in the second half and played a much improved game, unfortunatly it was not strong enough to get a win. They next play Cappagh Rathkeale in Cappagh in two weeks.
Premier Minor Hurling:
It was not a great start to the premier minor hurling championship on Wednesday 10 July 2024 when Murroe/Boher came to Mungret senior pitch and left their mark on our players. Mungret St. Pauls struggled to get scores while Murroe/Boher were dominant on the score board. This was the opening game of the group with two more to play.
U-14 Football:
Both our U-14 Football teams were out on Thursday 11 July 2024. The division 1 team were in Dromcollogher where they played Dromcollogher/Broadford in their fourth game. Mungret/St. Pauls had a poor start but improved in the second half, unfortunatly the gap was too much for Mungret St. Pauls to get back. While this is the second game they lost they still sit in second place on point difference after four games with one game left to play.
Mungret/St. Pauls 1-3 Dromcollogher/Broadford 3-9
The Division 3 team played on our village pitch where they got a chance to showcase their football skills. It was a great game with a lot of great passing and team work. After five games they have three wins and two losses and sit in third place on the table with two games left to play. Mungret/St. Pauls 3-12 Ahane 3-9
