Mungret/St Paul’s GAA Club Notes:

Limerick Players:
Carol Bateman represented Limerick last weekend in the National Football League Final against Carlow. Carol is a fantastic ambassador for this club, who gives up her time freely to for the betterment of ladies football. Carol is also a great mentor to younger members of the Intermediate and Junior teams. There is always great pleasure in seeing a member of the club in a All Ireland Final. Well done Carol.
The Limerick Minor Footballers played Clare on Tuesday 9 April 2024 in Ballyagran in the second round. While Limerick had a stong start it was Clare that ended up the winners on a score Limerick 0-9 Clare 3-6. Mungret St. Pauls are proud to have on the team, Daniel O’Connell, Rory Mullins and captain, Conor O’Longaigh. We also have Sean Ahern on the management.
Congratulations to Limerick U20 Football team and panel in the 2024 EirGrid Munster U20 Football B Final on Wednesday 10 April when they beat Waterford in Mallow Limerick: 2-10 Waterford: 1-5
Mungret St. Pauls are delighted to have Jason Hassett, Diarmaid Hynes and Jack Somers on the panel. Well done to all.
The Limerick Minor Hurlers were out on Thursday 11 April 2024 in Cork unfortunately, Limerick took a defeat Limerick: 1-10 Cork: 1-16. Mungret St. Pauls are delighted to have Conor Crowley on the panel.
Limerick played Tipperary in Round 2 of the Munster Under 20 Hurling Championship on Friday April 12th in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale. Another defeat for the U-20 team Limerick: 1-17 Tipperary: 3-18. Mungret St. Pauls have players Fintan Fitzgerald and Mark O’Brien on the panel.
Saturday morning 13 April 2024 the Limerick U-15 hurlers played a challenge match against Cork. Well done to Ruairi Dwane who lined out for Limerick.

U16 Camogie:
Our U16s had a great start to the U16b league last Tue night when they headed to Ballyagran to take on hosts Ballyagran/Knockaderry.
Captained by Grace Kelly the girls had a strong win.
They are out again on the 16th April when they take on St Ailbes, away. Keep an eye on ClubZap for updates.

Ladies Football:
The Intermediate Football team opened their season with a fine win over Monagea last weekend. A fantastic team performance all round.

U-13 Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 5-4 Killeedy Tournafulla 2-3
Our U-13 Division 1 hurlers went the distance to Tournafulla on Monday 8 April when they played in their opening match of the Championship. This was a great game where our players put in a strong performance and took their scores when they could. This was good preparation for the Pa O’Brien tournament this weekend.

Mungret St. Pauls 4-1 Patrickswell 3-5
The Division 2 U-13 hurlers went to Patrickswell to play the first round of their match, this was a game of team work with every player doing his best, a disappointing result but excellent workrate.

U-17 Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 5-9 Glenquin Gaels 0-9
On Wednesday 10 April in Mungret Senior Pitch our U-17 Hurlers took on Glenquin Gaels and had a comprehensive win where it was the goals that made the win. They are out again in two weeks in Monaleen.

U-14 Hurling:
Thursday 11 April 2024 was not a great evening with results in the U-14 Hurling group matches with both our Division 1 and 3 teams out they both saw a loss but gained the experience of their first match out in the 2024 championship. There are many more matches for these players to prove their strength as a team as they provided same great skillful hurling in their first match, their opposition just outscored them.

Senior Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 1-24 Kildimo Pallaskenry 0-8
On Saturday 13 April 2024 in Mungret Senior Pitch our Senior hurlers had a comfortable win over Kildimo Pallaskenry. Mungret St. Pauls had an eleven point lead at half time and went on to keep the scores going in the second half to end up topping the group on scoring difference with three more games to play.

PA O Brien U-12 Tournament:
Well done to Mungret St. Pauls U-12 coaches and Hurlers who hosted the Pa O’Brien tournament on Sunday 14 April 2024. A fantastic morning of hurling skill. Thank you to Newport, Sixmilebridge, Micheal Cussacks, Newtownshandrum and James Stephen’s who gave an excellent standard of hurling.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to keep the day running so smoothly both on the pitch and in the Community Centre feeding our visitors. Pa O’Brien was on hand during the day, keeping an eye on all the talent on the pitches.
James Stephens and Sixmilebridge played for the Shield and Shandrum played Mungret St. Pauls in the cup final. Congratulations to Sixmilebridge that were victorious in the Shield final but it was Mungret St. Pauls that proved too strong for Shandrum to go on to win the cup. Well done to all the players who took part, you represented your clubs well.

Junior B Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-16 Murroe Boher 4-16
Sunday afternoon, 14 April 2024 our Junior B Hurlers took on Murroe Boher on our village pitch. This was a tough game for our players as they build up a substantial score but it was just two goals short of Murroe Bohers score.

Junior A Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-12 Patrickswell 0-11
It was a very tight match on Sunday 14 April 2024 in the Junior A City Hurling League when it was played in Mungret. A game where both sides left everything on the pitch where it came down to who had the last score by the end of the 60 minutes, Mungret St. Pauls were just ahead by one point to take the win.

Con & Annie Kirby:
Well done to our U-12 boys last night in the Cic and Puc Fada. We had Bob Nix and Conor Slavin for the puc fada and Eanna Hehir and Tom Traynor for Cic fada. All put in a great shot with Bob going on to the final where he finished out second place.
Well done boys, Mungret St. Pauls are very proud of you, unfortunately our last remaining dog was knocked out at the Semi Final stage, we would like to Thank Noreen and JP McManus for their very generous sponsorship of this great event , Mungret St. Pauls are delighted to take part each year. Best of Luck to the remaining clubs next week.
