Mungret/St Paul’s GAA Club Notes:
Secondary School:
Best of Luck to Ard Soil Rís Harty Cup players Fintan Fitzgerald and Sean Duff in the Final which takes place on Saturday against Nenagh CBS in Ennis.
Scor Na Bpaisti:
All corners of the county led to Askeaton on Saturday 20th January for our Scór na bPaistí 2024 county finals.
With an astounding 180 children representing 17 schools from the 4 divisions in the county gave us a wonderful afternoon’s entertainment in the best of Irish music, song, dance and story telling.
The hall was full, the excitement was palpable and everyone was ready to see what talent our Limerick primary schools had to offer.
Mungret/St. Paul’s GAA club environs were well represented with children from St. Paul’s, St. Nessan’s Schools and Gaelscoil an Ráithín competing in various competitions, with some acts achieving medals.
St. Paul’s came out trumps in the Rince Foirne with a 4 hand reel to claim that title. In Amhránaíocht Aonair Maisie Ní Mhíacháin, from Gaelscoil an Raithín, came 2nd with ‘Land of the Gael’.
9 schools participated in the Ceol Uirlise competition. Gaelscoil an Raithín were awarded the runner up position with ‘The Butterfly’ slip jig. It was a tough call but St Nessans NS, with ‘The Kimovee Jig’ took a well deserved win in what was an excellent competition. Every child that participated received a certificate to bring back to their schools.
Long live Scór agus LUIMNEACHABÚ

Ladies Football:
Heartiest Congratulations to Siobhán Horgan on receiving the “Seamus Mc Closkey Club Person of the Year”. Siobhán is a very worthy recipient of this award. Her dedication, commitment and drive to keep the Ladies Football Club striving, is second to none. On the night Siobhán acknowledged the hard working committee of which she is Chairperson, she was very honoured, absolutely overwhelmed with gratitude and a little lost for words (which is unusual !!!!!). Well done Siobhán, very well deserved.
Well done to all the underage girls who received medals last weekend on the clubs “Night of Celebration”. To the Super 6’s, Eager 8’s, Terrific 10’s, Enthusiastic 11’s and Tremendous 12’s. It was fantastic to see the hall full of young girls and their families celebrating their involvement in Ladies Football. Keep up the good work in 2024. A big bualadh bos must go to the coaches and volunteers who made this happen.
