Mungret/St. Pauls GAA Club Notes:
Merry Christmas:
Mungret St. Pauls would like to Wish ALL our members, supporters and sponsors a very Merry Christmas and Best wishes for 2024.
Club AGM:
There was a fantastic attendance at the club AGM on Wednesday 13 December 2023. It was all good news from the top table as they reminded everyone of the great wins from all groups during the year along with the opening of the ball wall and astro pitch and the new back pitch under construction. There is no change to the management for next year but there was a call for more volunteers who would like to help out in any aspect of the club. If you are looking to get a little bit more involved in any part of the clubs many areas run by volunteers you can contact the club phone to discuss where you may be suitable to help out, there is a place for everyone.
U-21 Premier Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-8 Adare 1-6
It was an early start on Tuesday 12 December 2023 in Mick Neville Park when our U-21 Premier Footballers played Adare in the last of their group matches with Galbally having given us a Bye. This was a slow burning game where it took a while for Mungret St. Pauls to get going and they left it until near the end when they secured their second goal to extend the lead and take a six point win.
This win left us in top place on the table and now playing Monaleen in the Semi Final on Friday 22 December in UL.
Grant:
The Munster Council in conjunction with the Central Council approved a €1.6m Club Development Grant Fund, which will cover capital grant works in clubs in Munster for 2022 & 2023.
There was a total expenditure of €19M recorded by our units across the province and 260 applications were submitted for consideration. Mungret St. Pauls are delighted to be notified of being awarded €75,700 from this grant. This is a great boost to our development fund which we really appreciate.
JP McManus:
Mungret St. Pauls were delighted to hear the announcement of JP McManus’ very generous gift to all the GAA clubs in Ireland. With our current development it will be very much appreciated to help push us closer to the amount we require for our development.
Mungret St. Pauls would like to express our gratitude to JP, Noreen and all the McManus family on all they have done for GAA and the many charities they have helped with their generosity.
Realtaí:
It was the end of year Realtaí christmas party on Saturday 16 December 2023. This was a great time had by all with many members of our winning teams attending to show the children the trophies. There was a fantastic spread of food for all who attended after a few games were played. Each child went home with a selection box and a present. We look forward to seeing the children back again in a few months and it would be great to see some new children attend. Mungret St. Pauls would like to Thank Margaret Horgan, Brian Howley and all their volunteers for all the work they have put into the Realtaí for 2023.
