Mungret/St Paul’s GAA Club Notes:
U-13 Hurling:
Mungret St. Pauls 0-5 Patrickswell 1-6
On Tuesday 13 June our U-13 Division 3 hurlers welcomed near
neighbours to Mungret where a great game unfolded over the forty
minute match. There was great blocking and tackling throughout from
both sides as the ball saw plenty of action. Our players were unlucky
with a few wides but the got in five points which was great against a
slightly stronger side of Patrickswell. The hurlers get a few weeks
off matches until they return on the 20 of July.
Junior A Football:
Mungret St. Pauls 2-14 Cappagh 0-8
In Askeaton on Monday 19 June 2023 our Junior A Footballers lined out
against Cappagh in the County Intermediate Football League Final.
Mungret St. Pauls were spoilt for choice with players as we had an
over flowing bench in attendance. We started out strong kicking four
quick points leaving Cappagh on the back foot for the rest of the
game. Cappagh struggled but managed to get three points in before half
time while Mungret St. Pauls matched their earlier four points to lead
by 5 points by the break.
Back into the action and Cappagh again struggled to convert scores
while Mungret St. Pauls easily found their targets extending the lead
more and going comfortably into the end of the match to come off the
pitch as outright winners.
Well done to all the players and management on this fantastic
achievement, it is great to see another cup to the club, especially an
intermediate one for our Junior players.

U-17 Hurling:
Well done to our U-17 Hurlers who left very early on Sunday 25 June
2023 to travel to Kilkenny to play in the James Stephens, Paddy Mullen
Memorial Tournament. There were eight teams there on the day James
Stephens, Sixmilebridge, Glen Rovers, Durles Og, Ballyboden,
Ballygunner, Mungret St. Pauls and Oulart the Ballagh. Our players
played Oulart the Ballagh first, there were only two points separating
the teams by the final whistle, unfortunatly Mungret St. Pauls took
the loss.
The second match was against Ballyboden where again they put in a
great performance but had come up against a stronger side. This was a
great opportunity to play different teams in preparation for the
Championship. Well done to all our players who put in a great effort
on the day.
