MUNGRET ST. PAUL’S GAA CLUB NOTES
HAPPY CHRISTMAS
Mungret St Paul’s would like to wish all our members, coaches, sponsors and our community as a whole a very Happy New Year and hope that 2022 is filled with much happiness and many blessings for you all. A special thanks to all our members who gave so much extra to the club and helped out in the community because of the ongoing challenges of Covid 19.
Next year is expected to bring exciting times as our clubs development fundraising is in motion and we look forward to being a senior hurling club. Our ladies and mens Footballers and camogie also had wins during 2021, we hope to see many more wins next year.
We look forward to seeing new and old members back at club in 2022, until then stay safe.
IRELAND LIGHTS UP
Mungret St. Pauls have registered for Ireland Lights up again for 2022. This is a great way to get the excess Christmas food worked off. It is an 8 week programme, twice weekly, Mondays and Thursdays starting the 3rd and 6th January 2022 at 7pm from the Club House (subject to lockdown restrictions) we will have more info to follow depending on Government guidelines.
FONDUIREACH SHEOSAIMH MHIC DHONNCHA
Aidhm an-tábhachtach de chuid Chumann Lúthchleas Gael an Ghaeilge, mar theanga, a chur chun cinn. Is scéim í “Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha” de chuid Chumann Lúthchleas Gael agus Ghlór na nGael a thugann aitheantas do chlubanna a bhíonn gníomhach agus iad ag cur chun cinn na Gaeilge ina gcuid clubanna.
Fógraíodh go raibh 37 bonn le bronnadh ar chlubanna fud fad na tíre mar aitheantas ar a gcuid oibre. D’aimsigh CLG Mungairit/Naomh Pól bonn cré-umha a bhaint amach de réir an méid oibre atá ar siúil againn, agus is mór an onóir dúinn é.
Míle buíochas le baill CLG Mungairti/Naomh Pól a rinne tréan-iarracht thar an bhliain agus le muintir na háite a thugann tacaíocht dúinn leis an nGaeilge, ach go háirithe Gaelscoil an Ráithín, Conradh na Gaeilge agus Comhluadar Luimnigh.
One of the objectives of the GAA is the promotion of the Irish Language. The “Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonncha” is a scheme supported by the GAA and Glór na nGael that recognise and reward clubs that promote the Irish Language.
There were 37 medals awarded to clubs throughout the country for their efforts. Mungret/St Paul’s GAA was awarded a bronze medal for our efforts and we are very proud of all the work going into it.
Thanks to all the members who made an effort and to the local community who help promote Irish, especially Gaelscoil an Ráithín, Conradh na Gaeilge and Comhluadar Luimnigh.
CHARITY MATCH
One of our coaches is organising a Charity soccer match in aid of Concern. If you are looking for a fun run around after a ball, why not head down to UL North Campus Astro pitch on Wednesday 22 December for 8pm start ( arrive earlier to register, €10 per player, and get acquainted with the rest of your team ).
This is aimed at Lads and Dads from U15 age group (with parent/ guardian present), up to still able to run around the garden age group. Dressings rooms (and Defib ) will be available on the night.
Any queries can be directed to Liam on 0871891344
U-13 PLAYERS
Our U-13 players finish off the year of training with some fun training and a medal presentation. It is brilliant for the club to have 24 players all on the age of 13 on the team that won the U-13 Division 1 Footballers, all our U12 players were on the Division 3 team that put in some great work during the year. Well done to all our young players and to all our coaches for a serious amount of work put into keeping everything going. We look forward to seeing all our members back on the pitches in the new year.
CLUB LIMERICK DRAW
The Club Limerick Draw is one of our main fundraisers with 50% of the entrant fee returned to our local club. We strongly urge all club members to support this vital fundraiser and hopefully claim some of the wonderful prizes on offer. The cost of entry is €10 per draw. You can still sign up online via the new Club Limerick website at www.clublimerick.ie, remembering to select Mungret St. Pauls as the nominated club during the process. It would be a great gift to get someone for Christmas.
