JUNIOR A HURLING
Mungret St. Pauls 0-25 Bruree 1-14
Just out the road a bit to Croom our Junior Hurlers faced Bruree in the League County semi Final on Monday 2 August 2021. As it started the rain was easing in this physical but it had already made the play a bit slippy. Mungret St. Pauls improved as the game progressed, winning the Bruree puck outs produced more scores for us.
Both sides started out matching points until Bruree broke ahead with three unanswered points. Mungret St. Pauls did not wait too long to bring it back in their favour with our own string of 5 points, another point each before the half time whistle leaving Mungret St. Pauls with a small lead 0-9 to 0-7.
Back out on the pitch, Bruree worked up their score again to level the game. It only took Mungret St. Pauls four minutes to build up a four point lead, Bruree snook in another point but Mungret St. Pauls struck again with another hat trick of points. A point and a close range goal for Bruree left Mungret St. Pauls safety net of points in danger with only two points separating the sides. Mungret St. Pauls hit their stride as they extended the lead again with another five points, a chance on goal was quickly stopped by the Bruree goalie who had aspirations of playing out the field as he often fled the goals but his defence stopped our advances on taking a quick 3 point score. Another exchange of points before the full time whistle and progression to the County League Final for Mungret St. Pauls.

U-11 FOOTBALL
A very strong performances by both our €-11 football teams on Tuesday 3 August 2021 when we welcomed Cois Laoi Gaels to Mungret. There were 2 teams from both clubs which gave two very competitive games. Well done to all our players.
A special mention for the players who agreed to play with Cois Laoi Gaels in order to even up the teams.
U-13 HURLING
Mungret St. Pauls 2-3 Monaleen 5-6
In Mungret on Thursday 5 August 2021 the rain held off for the 40 minutes the match was played so our young hurlers could showcase their skills to their supporters. Monaleen were quick to score but Mungret St. Pauls put in a great effort on the pitch as they put it up to them. Throughout the game there were some very impressive passages of play. Our defence were put under a lot of pressure but our steady goalkeeper pulled off some expert saves. When the opportunity arose Mungret St. Pauls took their score, Monaleen were the stronger team and took the win.
JUNIOR A HURLING
Mungret St. Pauls 1-18 South Liberties 2-14
There were no hay bales barricading the supporters and teams from getting to Childers road on Sunday 8 August 2021 but there was a delay of a half hour when South Liberties and Mungret St. Pauls Junior A hurling teams met to battle it out to see who gets the title of Junior A County League winners. The weather was accommodating on the night which made for a very exciting match as it came down to the last minute to find out who the eventual winner would be.
Both sides settled into the game well but it was Mungret St. Pauls that took on the first lead, by the water break we had broken away with a four point lead with most of these coming from frees. Back on the pitch it went score for score but South Liberties upping their game they brought it back to just two points dividing the teams. Mungret St. Pauls split the uprights one more time before the break to finish the half 0-10 to 0-7.
Mungret St. Pauls got straight to work after the break as anther free was pointed followed on with the ball travelled toward the South Liberty goals a strong shot straight to the goalies hurley was deflected back out to the waiting Mungret St. Pauls forward who took the goalies distraction to his advantage and struck the net to strengthen the Mungret St. Pauls lead. A point a piece and South Liberties put pressure on our defence with an attack on the goal with both attempts denied going out for a 65 for the opposition that was added to their score joined with another point and a two on one ball to the net South Liberties were making their way back, only two points separating the sides again. Two more points to each side before the water break, it was still all to play for. Fresh legs for South Liberties were reviving the South Liberties players, Mungret St. Pauls made a few changes to keep the pressure on. Mungret St. Pauls exploded out after the water break stretching the lead with another two points. South Liberties know what they needed and they went looking for it again, there were a lot of bodies in the Mungret St. Pauls goal making the sliotar dizzy as it was knocked about until it came to rest in the back of the net. South Liberties levelled the game only three minutes later and with the clock ticking Mungret St. Pauls needed to up their game for the last few minutes, they took on two more scores with South Liberties putting the last ball through the uprights one last time before the final whistle. Mungret St. Pauls managed the win with just a one point lead.
The captain on the day, Richie Burke accepted the trophy from Sean Burke who began his speech asking all present to keep the Mungret St. Pauls coach, PJ Garvey and his family in their prays as he was unable to attend the match.
