MUNGRET ST. PAUL’S

GOOD FRIDAY
Thank you and well done to everyone who took part and helped out their community in the TLC7 this year.
CON AND ANNIE KIRBY
Fantastic news for Mungret St. Pauls as we are through to the Final of the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial with special thanks to our dog Ballinabola Ed, his trainer Pat Buckley and owner Brendan Murphy. Mungret St. Pauls are guaranteed at least €1000 to go toward club funds. This is brilliant news for our club and we would ask you to come along to the Greyhound track on Friday night to get behind Ballinabola Ed. Gates will be open at 6.30pm.
Of course, these nights out at the Limerick Greyhound Stadium would not be possible without the very generous support of Noreen and JP McManus which we, Mungret St Paul’s are always delighted to be able to take part in and enjoy the excitement and of course take part in each activity organised by the Limerick Greyhound Stadium and Limerick GAA.
U-15 HURLING
Mungret St. Pauls 2-7 Ahane 2-14
Monday 11 April was a cold but dry evening in Mungret when our Division 1 team met with Ahane. Both sides were level for the first quarter but then Ahane hit the net and Mungret St. Pauls found themselves playing a game of catch up, by half time the goal was the only thing that separated the two sides, 0-5 to 1-5.
Ahane came out stronger in the second half and built up a substantial lead of 10 points before Mungret St. Pauls hit back with their first goal coming from a long range free that snuck in by the goalie. This boosted the Mungret St. Pauls players on, but they were just unable to bring the score difference any closer. There were some great passages of play throughout the game.

Well done to the Junior Team who won in their first outing of the season in Division 4 of the County League. They had a comprehensive win over GalteeGaels. This is the first time in a number of years that a 2nd Adult Team has been entered into competition, it was great to see the mixture of experience and youth gel together.
In Division One of the League we were unfortunate to go down to a better Ballylanders side. Next fixture is Sunday 24th April, both teams away to Oola.
The (white) u16 team were defeated by DromcollogherBroadford on Monday last.
Also on Saturday last, There was a great turnout for the u12 Blitz, well done to all participants.
EASTER CAMOGIE CAMP

The camp is fully booked and we would like to remind parents / guardians to check their emails for some important information in advance. Any queries please contact Camogie PRO Annie on 086 1727902.
U-11 HURLING
Well done to our U11 hurlers tonight in a very tough battle with Na Piarsaigh. Probably didn’t play to our potential in the first matches and our heads dropped a bit. But we regrouped and earned well deserved victories in the second matches. Great effort for our players yet again.
FEILE NA NGAEL
Well done to our U-15 hurlers in their Feile weekend as they faced Monaleen, Kileedy, Tournafulla, Monagea and hosts Na Piarsaigh on Saturday 16 April 2022. These players battled their way through 3 very tough matches, they started strong in their first match against Monaleen, but Monaleen soon found their top gear and really put it up to us. Our players were slightly battered after the defeat to Monaleen but went into the second match with their heads up and they never let them drop as Kileedy, Tournafulla, Monagea proved to be the slightly stronger team by the final whistle.
The last match of the morning was against Na Piarsaigh who had two wins already on the board but our U-15 players went into this game knowing it was going to be the toughest game of all and they had taken on a few injuries but they went out onto the pitch in great spirit and enjoyed the last match of the day. There was some great plays and exciting scores from our players through the three matches and while they did not go through to the semi final stages they had the experience of Feile and can now go on and prepare for the rest of their Championship matches.
We would like to wish a steady recovery to Tadhg Browne who received an injury during the matches.

U-13 HURLING
On Thursday 14 April 2022 Mungret St. Pauls had two U-13 hurling teams out. Our Division 1 team travelled the long distance to Tournafulla with 15 players so each player had the full forty minutes of a game against an army of players. Each player gave everything they had but were out done on the scoreboard.
Our second, younger team were at home against Caherline in a spectacular game where they proved they are a team that can work together well and get a result. The players should be very proud of their win and take this onto their next game.
JUNIOR FOOTBALL
Mungret St. Pauls 2-11 Kilteely Dromkeen 1-8
In the East Intermediate Football league our Junior players had to travel to Kilteely on Thursday 14 April 2022. It was not an easy game but it was a great game of skill from both sides as difficult scores were made. This was a second win with just one more game to go in May, Mungret St. Pauls sit on the top of the table at present.
