SANTA VISIT
There was a very excited group of young players on Saturday, 4 December 2021, that instead of training that morning they gathered outside the clubhouse, many dressed for the special occasion as each player received a certificate to celebrate and congratulate them on the skills they have improved on during the year from some of our Premier Intermediate hurlers who were accompanied by our own Mayor of Limerick, Daniel Butler. There were plenty of treats for all and lovely hot drinks for the parents. There was an added surprise for our players as they were delighted to hear a bell echo in the air as they turned to find a fine figure in red and white approach from the side of the clubhouse. Santa got to meet all the children and he did not come empty handed either as each child received a sliotar and hurling grip as a special reward for all their hard work they put in throughout the year.
A very special Thank you to Breandan O’hAnnaigh who organised the day and to Mayor Daniel Butler, players- Eoin, Liam and Louis who helped hand out the certificates, to all the coaches and the ladies who kept everyone fed. An extra special Thank You to Santa who although has a very busy schedule was very patient and met with all our players.
Some of the players will move onto new groups next year but your coaches will let you know who will be moving to an older group. We look forward to meeting new players next year along with the return of the current players. Keep practicing.
U-21 PREMIER HURLING
Mungret St. Pauls 0-9 Na Piarsaigh 1-16
On a cold breezy Tuesday 30 November 2021 our U-21 Premier Hurlers faced Na Piarsaigh in the County Semi Final in Mick Neville Park. Mungret St. Pauls had a slight lead at half time while playing with the breeze but Na Piarsaigh took over in the second half and left us behind.
Both sides matched each point scored up to the water break with five points each. In the second quarter Mungret St. Pauls separated themselves from Na Piarsaigh by going ahead by three points. After the break, three pointed frees for Na Piarsaigh saw both sides level again but Mungret St. Pauls struggled to score while Na Piarsaigh with the aid of the breeze pulled ahead on the score board, there was a close chance for Mungret St. Pauls to score a goal only a water feature infront of the goals prevented the ball from travelling. This game unfortunately saw Mungret St. Pauls knocked out. Thank you to all the supporters for attending each match, a special Thank you to the players for all their hard work and dedication and to the management team for their time and encouragement.

U-21 PREMIER FOOTBALL
Mungret St. Pauls 2-5 Fr. Caseys 0-13
It was Friday 3 December 2021 when our U-21 Premier Footballers took on Fr. Caseys in the County Semi Final in Mick Neville Park, this was a game where each player had to get stuck in and move the ball fast as there was a breeze that made it a bit difficult.
The first half saw Fr. Caseys with the breeze advantage but Mungret St. Pauls kept Fr. Caseys in touch, our second point was a try on goal but the Fr. Caseys goalie managed to get a hand to it and pop it over the crossbar, this was the last score for Mungret St. Pauls in this half as Fr. Caseys topped up their score with another 8 points.
The second half was were Mungret St. Pauls had the chance to pull the game back with the aid of the breeze and some smart play. There was only one point to each side by the second water break but Mungret St. Pauls upped their game and got the ball into the back of the net which pushed them on. Fr. Caseys never gave up and put our backs under pressure as they went for goals but they were cleared away and out of danger. Fr. Caseys scored their last two points bridging the gap to five points, Mungret St. Pauls team play built up to a second goal but unluckily ran out of time. It was a good come back in the second half but just not strong enough to win the game. Well done to all our hard working players for all their time and effort put into the games and the training.
