MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES
MUNSTER CHAMPIONSHIP: Commiserations to Monaleen players Andrew La Touche Cosgrave and Jamie Power who are members of the Limerick senior hurling squad which lost out to Cork in the Munster senior hurling championship at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday. Monaleen’s Brian Geary is a selector with the Limerick side and Paul Kinnerk is team coach. Monaleen’s Ronan Lyons turned in an excellent display for Limerick minor hurling side who began their Munster championship campaign with an exciting draw against Cork at the Gaelic Grounds also on Sunday. Monaleen’s Neil Clifford is the Liaison Officer with the team.
CONDOLENCES: Sincere condolences to the Coffey family on the passing of Donal, Ballyclough Cross, Castletroy, uncle of Barry and brother of Billy, a family steeped in the life and history of Monaleen GAA club. Following Requiem Mass at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Milford, on Monday burial took place in Mount St Oliver Cemetery. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
BRICK IN THE WALL: Monaleen GAA club is relaunching the hugely successful “Brick in the Wall” campaign. Bricks are available for €100. The Club is also selling advertising signage within the Clubhouse Field Grounds, at a cost of €300 per year. The funds raised go towards tge ongoing costs of maintenance and upkeep of the grounds, as well as helping us to plan for the future in order to deliver a first class facility for our ever growing young membership. PARTY NIGHT: Monaleen GAA Club Party Night, coaches appreciation night takes place on this Friday, May 24 at the clubhouse at 7.30pm. Night includes disco with DJ Dave, raffle and spot prizes, finger food and bar – fun for all the family. There will be a €2 charge per adult (kids free) on the door, which will get you a raffle ticket also, this money will be put back into relevant Juvenile teams.) Kids disco In the hall and bar open. Donation of sambos, crisps, etc on the night would be greatly appreciated. LOTTO RESULTS: The latest Lotto draw took place on Thursday, May 16, with the jackpot standing at €10,600. The numbers drawn were 3, 10, 15 and 25. Winners of the €50 lucky dips were F. Madden, Monaleen Park; C/D Gaughan, Oakfield; J. Clifford, Mulcair Drive; S. Moylan, Mount Green. Tickets can be purchased on a weekly basis from local shops and pubs and the draw is held every Thursday night in the club at 10pm.
SEWING CAMPS: Summer Sewing Camps will take place in Monaleen GAA Clubhouse this year, with Camp 1 running from July 3 to 5 and Camp 2 taking place between August 14-16. Camps run between 10am and 1pm each day. Contact Louise on 086-8147345 for more details.
SUMMER CAMP: This year’s Monaleen GAA Summer Camp will take place during week beginning July 8 in Peafield for children aged 5 to 12. However, children must have completed at least Junior Infants in primary school. The camp costs will remain the same as last year. Please note that we cannot offer a daily rate. Forms and fees are being collected at training sessions this week.

U14 HURLING: Well done to Monaleen U14 hurlers who defeated Doon by 2-9 to 1-9 in the U-14 Division 1 Championship at the clubhouse pitch last week.
CAMOGIE:
U14 LEAGUE: Best of luck to our U14 team who have qualified for the Plate Final in the League against Mungret this Tuesday, May 21, in Crecora. Following a good win last Tuesday to Blackrock Effin on a score line of 4-08 to 0-07. Monaleen played a strong first half which saw them go into half time leading by 1-06 to 0-02. 3 goals in the second half with 2 in quick succession at the mid way point saw Monaleen finish out as strong winners. U12 LEAGUE: Congratulations to our Monaleen Red team who played away on Thursday last to St Ailbes. Monaleen took control of this game and led from the start. This was a strong first win in U12 league. Monaleen Red are at home to Tournafulla this Thursday May 23rd, throw in at 19:30 Clubhouse Pitch. Well done to Monaleen White team who hosted Mungret at home on Thursday evening. This was a closely competitive match with Mungret running out eventual winners. A great start to the League for this young team. They now play away to Adare this Thursday, throw in at 19:00.
U7 TO U10: Our U7 to U10 teams host a blitz at home on Sunday next May 26th at the Clubhouse. Please come along to show your support to the future stars of our club.
