MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

UNDER-AGE TRAINING: The good news delivered by the government in recent weeks was that non-contact underage training in pods of 15 will be permitted from Monday next April 26th. It will be great to see all our budding young GAA stars back out on the pitch next week. We must continue to comply wholeheartedly with the guidelines set out for the return to under-age training in full. We thank everyone for their compliance in this regard. Monaleen CV-19 outreach team have made a number of runs to Centra Monaleen & SuperValu Castletroy. We’re happy to support our community in these challenging times. Contact Alan at 087 7766022 or Caroline at 087 6448807.

CON & ANNE KIRBY MEMORIAL STAKE: Luminous Light, representing Monaleen Ladies Gaelic Football, bowed out at the semi-final stage of the 2021 Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stake at Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night.

SYMPATHY: All at Monaleen GAA Club were saddened to learn of the recent passing of Chris O’Neill, dad of our friend and Intermediate football coach, Ross. Our deepest sympathies to Ross and the O’Neill family from all in Monaleen GAA Club at this time. Monaleen GAA Club members were also saddened to learn of the passing of Mary Gleeson, mother of our friend and coach John Gleeson. Deepest sympathies from all in the club to John and all of the Gleeson family at this sad time. May they rest in peace.

CUL CAMP: The club has made the difficult not to run Cúl Camp this summer. Unfortunately, the numbers allowed to participate in the camp are limited to 50, and it is very difficult to predict what level of restrictions we will be facing this summer. We are very disappointed, but feel it is the better option. If circumstances improve, we hope to run a number of street league type events, so let’s keep our fingers crossed for that!

LOTTO: The latest Lotto draw took place on Thursday, April 15 with the jackpot standing at €20,000. The numbers drawn were 9, 15, 24 and 28. Winners of the €50 lucky dips were F. Sheahan, Woodhaven; P. Ryan, Ashleigh Wood; T. Trehy, Killonan. Thank you for your continued support.
