MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

GOOD LUCK: Best of luck to Monaleen’s representatives involved in the Limerick senior hurling squad who play Waterford in the final of the Allianz Hurling League at Croke Park on Sunday next, 2pm. Andrew la Touche Cosgrave, Lorcan Lyons and Jamie Power are members of the Limerick senior hurling squad, while Brian Geary is a selector with the Limerick side and Paul Kinnerk is team coach.

BEST WISHES: Best of luck to the Monaleen senior footballers and their backroom team who face holders Adare in the opening round of the county senior football championship this Saturday evening in Clarina at 5pm. All support greatly appreciated. The team defeated Dromcollogher-Broadford 2-10 to 1-7 in the all-county football league in Monaleen last weekend.

THANKS: Big thanks to everyone for the great turnout on Sunday for Monaleen Fun Run/Walk to support Monaleen Cancer Support. The event continues to go from strenght to strength and was a big success again this year.

LOTTO RESULTS: The latest Lotto draw took place on Thursday, March 21 with the jackpot standing at €8,100. The numbers drawn were 1, 8, 27 and 32. Winners of €50 lucky dips were S. Walker, Killonan; J. Whittle, Carrigeen; N. McDermott, Glanntan; Janet/Bernie @Leos. Tickets can be purchased on a weekly basis from local shops and pubs.

CLUB MEMBERSHIP: Club membership is now due and must be paid before this Sunday, March 31. You can pay on-line or to Barry Coffey. Remember only those whose membership was paid in full and on time can be included in the draw for All-Ireland tickets should Limerick go all the way this summer.

FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT: On Bank Holiday Monday, Monaleen GAA club hosted an under 11 and under 10 football tournament in the University of Limerick. Oranmore/Maree GAA Club from Co Galway and Newbridge Sarsfield’s from Co Kildare were in attendance. In the tough weather conditions, the standard of football was very high from all of the over 200 boys who took part. It was a great start to the season, the coaches would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped on the day.

WELL DONE: Well done to Alex Lautsou who won the U12 Cic Fada competition at the Con and Annie Kirby Stakes at the Greyhound Stadium on Saturday evening. Eoghan Maher represented Monaleen in the U12 Hurling Poc Fada competition on the night. Congrats to all.

Monaleen U14 camogie squad which competed in the Féile A competition

CAMOGIE: U14 Féile: Commiserations to our U14 team who lost A Féile Semi final on Sunday morning to Bruff after extra time. This team had 3 good wins on Saturday to get to today’s A Semi Final. In the Semi-Final the team came back from 5 points down to draw in normal time. Bruff pulled away with a goal and point in extra time to run out winners. We are very proud of the girls over this weekend. Thanks to all the coaches and mentors. Huge thanks to all the parents and supporters who came to LIT yesterday and today to support the team.

JUNIOR LEAGUE: Junior League 12-a-side: Our Junior team played their first League match in 12 a side League away to Ahane. Monaleen started strong with 2 goals in the 9th and 10th minute from Ella Hession, leaving Monaleen 2-06 to 0-01 ahead at half time. This good form continued in the 2nd half with Monaleen running out eventual winners on a scoreline of 3-07 to 1-0
