U11 HURLING: Our U11 hurling squad took part in the prestigious Tim ‘Birdie’ Hayes Tournament, hosted by Sarsfields Hurling Club in Cork, on Sunday last. Monaleen, hosts Sarsfields, Ballygunner, from Waterford, and Sixmilebridge, from Clare, each fielded two teams to make up an eight-team event. The standard of hurling on show throughout the day was extremely high. It was a great learning experience for this bunch of young Monaleen players who acquitted themselves very well. Thanks again to Sarsfields for their top class hospitality on the day.

HEALTHY CLUB COMMITTEE: Monaleen GAA club is establishing a Healthy Club Committee. Julie Golden and Nicola Donohue are the Club’s Healthy Officers. Last year’s very successful ‘Lights Up 5k Walks’ were organised under the Healthy Club initiative. The ladies have lots more exciting ideas and we are looking for two or three volunteers to help out with organising events designed to improve the overall wellbeing of our club members in every aspect of life, including nutritional health and mental health. If you would be interested in helping out please contact Caroline O’Kane, James Johnson, Audrey Ruschitzko, John Noonan, or directly to Julie or Nicola. This is a very worthwhile group and an area the club would love to develop for all of our members and their families.

COMMUNITY DEFIBRILLATOR: The Annacotty Community Defibrillator Group have announced that the launch of the Community Defibrillator Response in Annacotty will take place in The Black Swan on Saturday, October 26 at 9pm. Please come along and show your support on the night.

CAMOGIE

COUNTY CHAMPIONS: Saturday was county Final day in the Junior 12-a-side championship. Monaleen v Kilmallock. The match was played in Boher in difficult wet conditions. Our girls dominated the first 15 minutes, but scores were hard to come by and Kilmallock were always in touch on the scoreboard. A slender 2-point lead at half time meant that the girls had to put in a huge effort in the second half to eventually run out deserving winners 1-7 to 0-6. Congratulation to all the girls on a fantastic achievement. Panel: Niamh Moloney, Aoife D’Arcy, Sarah Sheehan, Amy Kavanagh, Laura Hession, Shalini Kutur, Charley Drury, Grace Malone, Eimar Morgan (Capt), Emily O’Brien, Keelin Corcoran, Grace Clohessy, Roisin D’Arcy, Clodagh Power.

JUNIOR 15-A-SIDE: Later on Saturday our Junior A team continued their good run with a 2-15 to 0-12 point win over Patrickswell. With 4 wins from 4 played the girls are in a strong position heading toward the semi final stage. Next match is Saturday 12th Oct away to Doon, throw in 7pm.
