MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

SENIOR HURLING: Our senior hurlers lost out to Ballybrown in their crucial final group game in the Bons Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship on Sunday at Claughaun. It was a disappointing end to a campaign in which the side had been unbeaten through their opening four group games. Still, plenty to build on next year for this talented young squad.

WELL DONE: Congratulations to Monaleen’s Ronan Lyons who has been included in the Electric Ireland Minor Star Awards Hurling Team of the Year. Ronan enjoyed a terrific year with Limerick, playing a starring role in defence during the county’s march to the Munster title. Ronan’s achievement in being one of three Limerick players selected on the Minor Star Awards Hurling Team is all the more notable as he is underage for minor grade again next year. The honour is just reward for his hard work and dedication. Well done, Ronan.

LIMERICK HURLING SIDES: Well done to all the Monaleen players who represented Limerick in the recent end of year inter county tournaments. Darragh Langan, Ben Murnane, Mark Field played in the U14 Tony Forristal tournament in Waterford. Joseph Fitzgerald, Shane Cross, Ben Hayes, Tony Power and Jack Ryan all played with the Limerick U15s in Tipperary with Joseph Fitzgerald having the honour of lifting the Arrabawn Shield as Captain. Ronan Lyons, Lochlainn McHale and Max Ivory were part of the Limerick U16 squad who played over the past two weeks in the U16 conpetitions. Well done to all and keep up the good work.
