FEILE HURLING: Excitement levels are growing in the club this week as Monaleen’s U-14 hurlers put their finishing touches to their Feile na nGael preparations.
This year Monaleen achieved club history by retaining their Limerick U14 Division 1 Féile hurling title, when overcoming Doon in the final in Claughaun.
The U14 boys, captained by Joseph Fitzgerald, now progress to represent Limerick Hurling in Division 1 of Féile na nGael in Connacht. The team will play their hosts Turloughmore, of Galway, Castlegar, also from Galway and Lucan Sarsfields, from Dublin in their three group fixtures, beginning this Friday, June 8.
We face Castlegar in our opening fixture in Turloughmore at 5.45pm on Friday, while we take on Lucan Sarsfieds at 7.15pm that evening.
Our final group fixture will be against our hosts Turloughmore at 10.45am on Saturday. All support weclome. Results will then determine if they progress to the finals in the Connacht GAA Centre in Ballyhaunis, Mayo. These are very exciting times for the boys
and the club hope to see them advance to play at senior level for club and county in the years to come.
As part of the Feile Fundraising drive, members of our U-14 hurling squad and their families held a very successful bag packing initiative at Dunnes Stores on Childers Road on Friday last. Thanks to shoppers for their generous support.
