MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

SENIOR HURLING: Our senior hurlers resume action in the Bons Secours Hospital County Senior Hurling Championship this Sunday afternoon when facing Knockainey in Claughaun at 1pm. Monaleen have taken three points from their opening two Group 2 fixtures with a win and a draw to date. We are also due to take on Murroe-Boher in Cappamore in Round 4 of the competition on Saturday, August 17 at 6pm and finally Ballybrown on Sunday, September 1 at Claughaun at 1pm. Best of luck to the players and management team in their upcoming games. All support appreciated.

SENIOR FOOTBALL: Our senior footballers came up a point short, 0-10 to 1-8, in their county senior football championship fixture against Ballylanders in Bruff on Saturday afternoon. Our final Group 1 game will be against Fr Casey’s in Croagh on Saturday, August 24 at 6pm.

LOTTO RESULTS: The latest Lotto draw took place on August 1, with the jackpot standing at €13,900. The numbers drawn were 8, 14, 31, and 32. Winners of the €50 lucky dips were V. Hayes, c/o Leos: K. Downey, Woodhaven; D. Phelan, Carrigeen; K. McDevitt, Ashleigh Wood. Tickets can be purchased on a weekly basis from local shops and pubs and the draw is held every Thursday night in the club at 10pm.

CAMOGIE

U14 CHAMPIONSHIP: Well done to Monaleen U14s who had a good first round championship win away against Kileedy last Tuesday night on a scoreline of 3-07 to 3-03. Next up is Mungret on Tuesday, August 6, throw in 6:30pm Clubhouse Pitch.

U12 CAMOGIE: Well done to our U12 team who played at half time in the All Ireland Senior Quarter Final championship match in Thurles last Saturday, a great experience.

COMMISERATIONS: Commiserations Caoimhe, Megan and Limerick teammates who lost the All-Ireland quarter final against Tipperary at Semple Stadium.

LIMERICK JUNIORS: Well done to Aisling Kennedy and Limerick Junior team on qualifying for all Ireland Junior semi final.
