MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

ALL-IRELAND SEMI-FINALS: Commiserations to Monaleen players Andrew La Touche Cosgrave and Jamie Power who are members of the Limerick senior hurling squad which lost out to Kilkenny in dramatic fashion in the All-Ireland semi-final at Croke Park on Saturday last. Monaleen’s Brian Geary is a selector with the Limerick side and Paul Kinnerk is team coach.
Hard luck also to Monaleen’s Ronan Lyons who is a member of the Limerick minor hurling squad which lost out to Kilkenny in the All-Ireland minor hurling semi-final on Saturday also at Croke Park. Ronan was an ultra consistent performer as Limerick claimed the Munster minor title in impressive fashion in recent weeks. Monaleen’s Neil Clifford is the Liaison Officer with the Limerick minor team.

SENIOR FOOTBALL: Congrats to our senior footballers who resumed their county championship Group 1 campaign on Friday night with a crucial 0-12 to 0-4 victory over St Senan’s at Ballybrown. Best of luck to the players and management team. All support greatly appreciated.

The Monaleen U9 hurling squad which travelled to Naas GAA Club to play their U9s on Saturday last ahead of attending Limerick’s All-Ireland senior and minor hurling semi-final meetings with Kilkenny at Croke Park

U9: There was a huge air of excitement Saturday morning in Castletroy as the U9 hurlers of Monaleen got on their bus outside Chawkes for their greatest challenge yet! They were heading to Dublin to support their heroes in Croke Park, but they had to take care of a bit of business on the way first. At 12 noon, our U9’s took on Naas GAA Club in a terrific display of hurling. Monaleen played their hearts on their sleeves and with their heroes in the back of their mind, they represented their club and county with pride. “Naas really pulled out all the stops both on and off the pitch and we are really looking forward to the return fixture in a couple of weeks,” said the Monaleen Manager.
