MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

MUNSTER FINAL: Club members who wish to apply for stand tickets for the Munster hurling final at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday, June 30, must text Liam at 0858467810 on or before this Thursday, June 20. Demand for tickets for the game is heavy. Supporters are advised that terrace tickets for the final have been available for purchase via tickets.ie, Centra and Supervalu from Wednesday June 19 at 8am. Limerick supporters will be allocated the City End Terrace with Tipperary supporters allocated the Clare End Terrace. Prices are as follows: Adult Stand Pre-Purchase: €35.00; Adult Terrace Pre Purchase: €25.00; Juvenile Stand & Terrace: €5.00; Student/Senior’s will receive €10.00 concession with valid ID at the designated stile prior to entry. Adult prices increase by €5.00 at midnight on June 29.

MUNSTER CHAMPIONSHIP: Monaleen players Andrew La Touche Cosgrave and Jamie Power are members of the Limerick senior hurling squad which has qualified for this year’s Munster final against Tipperary at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday, June 30, 2pm, after finishing in second place in the round robin series. Monaleen’s Brian Geary is a selector with the Limerick side and Paul Kinnerk is team coach.
Congratulations also to Monaleen’s Ronan Lyons who is a member of the Limerick minor hurling squad which qualified for this year’s Munster minor hurling final against Clare at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday, June 30, 11.30am. Ronan has been ultra consistent in defence for Limerick throughout their unbeaten round robin campaign in Munster. Monaleen’s Neil Clifford is the Liaison Officer with the Limerick minor team.

SYMPATHY: Sincere sympathy to Monaleen coach John Ryan and family on the passing of John’s father, John Ryan Senior, Ballykeeffe, Dooradoyle. Following Funeral Mass at Mary Magdalene Church, Monaleen, on Monday, burial took place in Mount Saint Lawrence Cemetery. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.

EXAMS: Best of luck to all our young members who are completing their Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate exams this week.

BRICK IN THE WALL: Thanks to everyone who has purchased a brick in the wall or booked advertising signage in the clubhouse field. There are spaces left for ten bricks and one sign. If you would like to order either of these please contact Caroline O’Kane at 087 6448807. Thank you for your support.

FUN DAY: The club will host their annual family fun day on this Sunday, June 23. The day’s activity will begin with a Pitch and Putt competition from 11am to 1pm. Entry is €5 per player from the ages of eight to adult, with three players per team. There is an attractive first prize of 2 highly coveted tickets to the 2019 Munster Hurling Final. The action moves to the clubhouse then from 2pm with fun for all age groups. Activities include a ‘Penalty King’ and ‘Hit the Crossbar’ competition, a puc fada, a cic fada, face painting, egg and spoon races, kids disco, magic show, three legged races and much more. Supermac’s will also be present providing food and drinks on the day. All welcome.

LOTTO RESULTS: The latest Lotto draw took place on June 13, with the jackpot standing at €11,800. The numbers drawn were 1, 11, 29 and 30. Winners of the €50 lucky dips were J. Gleeson, Monaleen Heights; K. Power, c/o Hurlers; P. Russell, Mulcair Drive; J. Nicholas, Black Swan. Tickets can be purchased on a weekly basis from local shops and pubs and the draw is held every Thursday night in the club at 10pm.

SEWING CAMPS: Summer Sewing Camps will take place in Monaleen GAA Clubhouse this year, with Camp 1 running from July 3 to 5 and Camp 2 taking place between August 14-16. Camps run between 10am and 1pm each day. Contact Louise on 086-8147345 for more details.

U11 HURLING: Our U11 hurlers had a good win over Adare in the U11 hurling league on Friday last in Adare. Meanwhile, 32 players from our U11 & U12 hurling groups travelled to Thurles for great challenge matches against Durlas Og on Sunday morning last before attending Limerick’s Munster SHC fixture with Tipperary at Semple Stadium.

ROUNDERS: Well done to Monaleen U13 rounders team who won the Community Games Limerick County final recently.

CAMOGIE CLUB

U13 COMPETITION: 12-a-side: Monaleen Reds hosted Templeglantine on Tues 11 June. This was a good learning experience for this young team playing up in U13 this year. A strong performance from Monaleen saw them run out winners on a 11-05 to 1-01 score line. Monaleen Reds now played away on Tuesday, 18 June to Ballybrown.

15-A-SIDE: Monaleen (06s) had a great start to their U13 competition with an away win to St Ailbes on a scoreline of 5-14 to 0-01, this was followed by a home win to Newcastlewest on a scoreline of 6-10 to 0-00. They then played away to Croagh Kilfinny on Tuesday 18th June.

U12 LEAGUE: Monaleen Reds had a physically tough game away last week to Knockaderry. A strong first half from Knockaderry saw them win out by 4 points on a scoreline of 3-02 to 1-04. They now play at home to Granagh Ballingarry this Thursday, throw in 7:45pm in Monaleen Clubhouse.
Monaleen Whites had a tough home game against a strong Crecora side last Thursday night which saw Crecora have a strong win. They now play away to na Piarsaigh this Thursday, throw in at 6:30pm.

U8 & U10 BLITZES: Well done to our U10 team who played away in blitz last Saturday again in Ahane and our U8 teams played away in blitz last Saturday morning, hosted by Crecora GAA, a great morning of camogie.

U-7 GIRLS: Good luck to our U7 girls who travel to Adare this Saturday morning, throw in at 11am.

WELL DONE: Well done to our camogie players who won the U13 Community Games Limerick County Rounders Final last week, fantastic achievement.

LIMERICK SUCCESS: Well done to Caoimhe Lyons & Megan O’Mara and their Limerick team mates on a great win over Offaly in the All-Ireland camogie Championship last Saturday evening at the Gaelic Grounds.
