HEALTHY CLUB: Having achieved their aim of establishing Monaleen GAA club as a designated Healthy Club, our Healthy Club officers wish to hand on the baton.
The Role of Healthy Club Officers is to promote a culture of positive physical, mental and nutritional health within the club and wider community. Examples of activities can include from hosting 5k walks and hosting information sessions on various topics, but all suggestions are welcome. There is no requirement to attend Executive Committee meetings, or to fundraise for Healthy Club Activities, and it is ideally suited to those who would like to contribute positively to our community. If you are interested, please contact Caroline at 087 6448807.
CHRISTMAS WREATH MAKING: Monaleen GAA Club Christmas Wreath Making Class by Norma Blake of Lisnagry Flowers takes place on Friday, December 3rd at 8pm. Cost is €45 and pre-booking essential. Contact Caroline O’Kane 087-6448807.
GAA CLUB REGISTRATION: It’s that time of year again when we begin to ask parents to pay their child’s membership. However, with the move to Foireann as the main GAA system, we will be synchronising the juvenile and adult registration to one single calendar year system, as per GAA requirements.
Therefore we will not be requesting you to pay for your children until nearer the end of this year, and then annually every December in advance of the next calendar year. If you paid in September 2020 your child is covered to play and train until the end of this year. New age groups which start in September this year will not have to pay until December. We will let you know as soon as registration opens. Thank you for your co-operation, Caroline, Keenan, Paul, Audrey.
U17 HURLERS: Well done to Monaleen U17 hurlers and management team who defeated Newcastle West in the County U17 Hurling Division 1 Championship final at Kilbreedy on Saturday morning. The Monaleen side made history as a result of their 1-20 to 0-13 success as it is the club’s first minor team to win the county title at the top grade. Congrats to all.
U-15 HURLING: Well done to our U15 Hurlers who represented Limerick GAA at the National John West Féile na nGael finals in Tipperary on Thursday last. Having won the Limerick Division 1 competition back in August, Monaleen competed against the top teams from around the country. The team reached the Cup semi-final where they lost out to a strong Clarinbridge side. Well done to the players and management on an excellent campaign.
LOTTO: The latest Lotto draw took place on Thursday, October 28 with the jackpot standing at €4,200. The numbers drawn were 3, 7, 22 and 26. Winners of the €50 lucky dips were S/N Nolan, Monaleen Park; T. Moloney, Ballysimon; P. Tight, Beechwood. Thank you for your continued support.

INTERMEDIATE: The Intermediate Semi-Final v Murroe Boher was played in Caherconlish on Sunday. The game started well for Monaleen with some great scoring and a lead of 6 points to 1 at the first water break. The weather conditions then deteriorated which had an impact on the game turning it into a series of rucks and frees where scores were at a premium. A penalty goal from Aine Doyle in this period proved to be a crucial score. The final score of 1-7 to 1-4 reflected the conditions but is a crucial win for Monaleen putting the club in an intermediate final in our first year at the grade. Well done to everyone involved and best of luck in the final which is fixed for November 21st.
JUNIORS: The Junior B team played away to Tournafulla in the afternoon. The conditions at that stage were at a point where the game probably should have been called off but the Monaleen players put in a spirited 60 mins effort losing out to the home side. The game will stand to them as their next outing is a plate final in a few weeks time.
U13s: Our U13s travelled to Na Piarsaigh for a challenge match. Well done to all the girls for battling hard in very difficult and testing conditions.
