The Role of Healthy Club Officers is to promote a culture of positive physical, mental and nutritional health within the club and wider community. Examples of activities can include from hosting 5k walks and hosting information sessions on various topics, but all suggestions are welcome. There is no requirement to attend Executive Committee meetings, or to fundraise for Healthy Club Activities, and it is ideally suited to those who would like to contribute positively to our community. If you are interested, please contact Caroline at 087 6448807.
CHRISTMAS WREATH MAKING: Monaleen GAA Club Christmas Wreath Making Class by Norma Blake of Lisnagry Flowers takes place on Friday, December 3rd at 8pm. Cost is €45 and pre-booking is essential. Contact Caroline O’Kane 087-6448807.
GAA CLUB REGISTRATION: It’s that time of year again when we begin to ask parents to pay their child’s membership. However, with the move to Foireann as the main GAA system, we will be synchronising the juvenile and adult registration to one single calendar year system, as per GAA requirements.
Therefore we will not be requesting you to pay for your children until nearer the end of this year, and then annually every December in advance of the next calendar year. If you paid in September 2020 your child is covered to play and train until the end of this year. New age groups which start in September this year will not have to pay until December. We will let you know as soon as registration opens. Thank you for your co-operation, Caroline, Keenan, Paul, Audrey.

LADIES FOOTBALL:
JUNIOR TEAM: The Groody Gaels ladies junior team played Ahane in the third round of the county Junior championship in Ahane on Sunday last (24th October). In splendid sunshine and in a high scoring contest, Groody Gaels gave a super team performance throughout the game to come away with the victory in this vital championship clash.
Ahane got the better of the exchanges at the start of the game and took an early lead before Groody’s Caoimhe Lyons expertly converted a lovely team move to score the first goal of the game. Soon after, corner forward Chloe Tobin converted a close-range chance for Groody’s second goal of the game before Caoimhe Lyons scored a super long-range point to extend Groody’s lead on the scoreboard heading the first water break.
In the second quarter, Groody’s dominance continued with goals from corner forward Aoife Neville and two more from corner forward Chloe Tobin bringing her goal tally to 3 in the first half. As the first half came to an end, half forward Rachel O’Dell capped off a strong run through the Ahane defence with a super shot to the roof of the Ahane net leaving the half time score at Groody Gaels 6-1 Ahane 3-7.
The second half started with a flurry of scores from the Groody forward line with two goals in two minutes from Player of the Match Caoimhe Lyons. An expertly converted point followed soon after from corner forward Aoife Neville before a strong defensive effort from the Groody back line kept a strong Ahane attack at bay. As the second half progressed, Groody kept the score board ticking over with brilliant long-range points from Jenna Carragher, Aoife Neville, Caoimhe Lyons and super-sub Siobhan Doran who with her first kick of the game slotted over a super score. A superb second half display from the entire team meant that Groody came out on top on a scoreline of 8-06 to Ahane’s 5-10. Next up is round 4 of the championship at home to Adare in two weeks-time. Special mention to our generous Team Sponsor Trade Electric for all their support this season.
