Donations can be taken on Friday, October 8 from 6pm-8pm and on Saturday, October 9 from 10am to 12noon. Please donate any clean, unwanted clothes, also bed linen towels, curtains, paired shoes, bags and belts. No duvets, pillows or wet, dirty or damaged clothes please. Thank you for your support. The more we collect the more money we raise.
GAA CLUB REGISTRATION: It’s that time of year again when we begin to ask parents to pay their child’s membership. However, with the move to Foireann as the main GAA system, we will be synchronising the juvenile and adult registration to one single calendar year system, as per GAA requirements.
Therefore we will not be requesting you to pay for your children until nearer the end of this year, and then annually every December in advance of the next calendar year. If you paid in September 2020 your child is covered to play and train until the end of this year. New age groups which start in September this year will not have to pay until December. We will let you know as soon as registration opens. Thank you for your co-operation, Caroline, Keenan, Paul, Audrey.
CLUB GEAR: Christmas Club Gear is currently in the design stage and being finalised in the next few days. Orders will open for 12 days only from October 1st with delivery expected during the first week of December. As soon as designs are finalised, we’ll send out details.
LOTTO: The latest Lotto draw took place on Thursday, September 16. The numbers drawn were 5, 20, 26 and 29. Congrats to jackpot winner, Ann-Marie Guiry. Thank you for your continued support.
CAMOGIE
INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP: Sunday 19th of September was an historic first in our Club history as Monaleen Camogie fielded our first ever Intermediate Championship team pictured hosting Cappamore at the Clubhouse pitch. A strong start in first quarter with 2 frees from Aine Doyle and a point from play for Caoimhe Lyons gave us a 2 point advantage at the first water break. Cappamore found their rhythm and scored 3 quick goals in a 6 minute period to lead by 3-05 to 0-06 at half time.
Six minutes into the 2nd half Caoimhe Lyons hit the back of the net with a great goal from play bringing Monaleen back into contention, however Cappamore held out to win by 3-10 to 1-11. Thanks to our U9s who put on a mini exhibition game at half time. Thanks also to Paul Mullins photography who captured the historic occasion for us. JUNIOR B CHAMPIONSHIP: In our 2nd match on Sunday our Junior B team kicked off their Championship away to Bruff, Monaleen started strongly going in 2 points up at the first water break. Bruff hit the back of the net in the first half just before half time giving the home side a 2 point lead at half time. Bruffs dominance continued in the second half with a 7 point lead at the 2nd water break. 2 goals from Monaleen in the last period were not enough to overcome the strong Bruff challenge. Final score Monaleen 3-06, Bruff 4-11.
MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP: On Wed night our Minor team played our club first ever Minor A County Final, a tight first quarter ensued but Ahane pulled clear in the 2nd quarter to give them a 6 point Half Time lead.
