MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

CONGRAULATIONS: Huge congratulations to the Limerick senior hurlers and management team who defeated Cork in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park on Sunday. Monaleen clubman Paul Kinnerk was coach to the Limerick senior hurlers once again this year and everyone at Monaleen is hugely proud of Paul’s achievement and his contribution to Limerick’s third All-Ireland final success in four years. Well down to the players, manager John Kiely and the rest of the management team.

Monaleen, who have now booked their place in the knock-out stages of the championship, take on city rivals Claughaun in their final group fixture in Caherdavin this Saturday evening at 6.45pm. CAMOGIE:
Monaleen – Limerick Féile A Camogie Champions
COUNTY FÉILE CHAMPIONS: Massive congratulations to our U15 team (pictured) who won the Limerick A Féile in Ballybrown on Sat 21st August. Monaleen had 3 group games vs Granagh Ballingarry, St Ailbes & Blackrock Effin. 3 wins from 3 games gave Monaleen a final spot as no semi-final was played. Monaleen played Patrickswell in the final and had a commanding win. Great day for the club as both Monaleen Camogie & Hurling teams were County Féile Champions. Well done to all the players & management on a great win.
U14 CHAMPIONSHIP: Monaleen U14 girls played their A cup semi-final last Thursday against Killeedy. After topping the group with 3 wins, the girls were feeling confident and getting better with every match. This was always going to be a tough battle as Killeedy had previously beaten Monaleen earlier in the league. The game certainly lived up to expectation and a brilliant, physical and skilful game of camogie was played before the players families and friends.
In the end it was Killeedy who came out on the winning side with a 1 point victory much to the disappointment of the girls and coaches.
The girls gave everything and left nothing behind on the pitch and for that they can hold their heads up high. They will continue to learn and develop from this experience and will be back stronger and better than ever. Well done to Killeedy Camogie and we wish them the very best of luck in the final.
Team: Erika McCarthy, Emma O’Leary, Carrie McCormack, Andrea Costello, Kate Moloney, Emma McGrath, Lily Reid, Alice Sheedy, Rebecca Bromell, Grace Hegarty, Robyn D’Arcy, Millie Reen, Lucy Power, Rachel Widger, Ella Rock, Molly Morrissey, Charley Liston, Katie O’Gorman, Orlaith Purcell, Sarah Sullivan, Aisling O’Leary, Louise Burke, Hazel Noonan, Sarah O’Halloran, Isabelle Bromell.
