CAMOIGE NOTES
*Intermediates*
After a hard earned draw 2 weeks ago against Croagh, our intermediates knew that nothing less than a win would do to see them secure a semi final slot.
Today’s opponents were Murroe Boher who despite a slow start to the championship are starting to build and get stronger with each game. It was Monaleen that began the game the quickest and 3 early points from Amy Burke, Ella Hession and Caoimhe Lyons settled any nerves. Murroe Boher responded well however with 2 points from frees. A further 4 points from Caoimhe and Amy and another 3 pointed Murroe frees followed before Aine Doyle added a free and Laura Southern finished the half with a point to leave the half time score
Monaleen 0-9
Murroe Boher 0-5.
The second half saw Monaleen start bright again with points from Amy and Ella. However the next few minutes belonged to Murroe Boher as they scored 1-3 to level up the game . Once more our girls responded brilliantly with 5 wonderful points from play. Murroe never gave up though and got through our defence to score another goal before slotting over a point. However Monaleen with their subs making a good impact took control as they saw out the game on a final scoreline of
Monaleen 0-21
Murroe Boher 2-8
Team
Faye Coffey, Niamh Doyle, Grainne Fullen( capt) Aoife Nelligan, Laura Hession, Emily O Halloran, Saoirse Lane, Aoife Doyle, Saoirse Fitzgerald, Ella Hession( 0-4),Ruth Heavy, Amy Burke( 0-6), Caoimhe Lyons (0-8), Aine Doyle( 0-2 frees) Laura Southern (0-1) Caitlin Bonifil, Abi Houlihan , Clodagh Power, Niamh Moloney, Ciara Buckley, Ellie Madden, Amy Kavanagh
A big win for Croagh Kilfinny over Killeedy sees them top the group on points difference and as we finish second, we now face Adare in the intermediate semi-final away in 2 weeks time.
*Junior B*
Our junior Bs had an important must win match today against Granagh Ballingarry but unfortunately this was called off due to a bereavement in Granagh. This is due to be rescheduled to next weekend.
*U16s*
Our U16s have been busy as their championship enters the latter stages. On Tuesday Sept 6th they played Newcastlewest away in the 4th round of the league. It was a difficult evening for our girls who were up against a strong and ever improving Newcastlewest team. The girls fought hard but came out on the losing side on a scoreline of
Newcastlewest 5-16
Monaleen 3-11
2 days later and the girls had to face a highly fancied Granagh Ballingarry in the Clubhouse pitch in round 5.
Once more despite a good battle the match didn’t go in our favour
Monaleen 1-5
Granagh Ballingarry 4-10
Despite these losses our U16s were still guaranteed a semi-final slot due to their earlier wins over Patrickswell, Knockaderry, and Adare.
A playoff was needed to determine positions and with Newcastlewest topping the group, Monaleen faced a rematch with Knockaderry/ Templeglantine in the clubhouse on Monday 12th September. This match had everything, physicality, super scores, great skill and a nail-biting finish which went to extra time before our girls came out winners on a score of
Monaleen 2-15
Knockaderry/ Templeglantine 1-15
This ensured that Monaleen finished second in the group and will now face Granagh Ballingarry at home in the Clubhouse this Thursday at 6:30pm. Best of luck all!!
*U14*
Our U14s played their 3rd round match in the U14 A division. The girls have had a difficult start to the championship as they faced very strong opposition but last Tuesday at home the girls met their match and had a great competitive game against Granagh Ballingarry. There was some lovely hurling and skill on display as the girls battled really hard and came away with a well-deserved victory.
Monaleen 3-1
Granagh Ballingarry 1-3
This was a much-needed win for the girls and the smiles and happiness at the end of the game meant so much to this hard-working group of lovely girls. Next up is a match away to Na Piarsaigh next Saturday morning.
Well done and keep up the great work.
*U13*
Our U13s have been waiting patiently and eagerly to start their U14 campaign and finally last Tuesday, they got to play Murroe Boher in the first round of the U14 C Championship. The girls were slow off the mark but never gave up and despite a few injuries , they battled back bravely in the second half and were unlucky to lose out by 1 solidarity point.
Monaleen 0-5
Murroe Boher 2-0
Next up this week is round 2 against a very strong Crecora side. Best of luck girls🇧🇭🇧🇭🇧🇭.
*U12s*
Our brilliant U12s are having a wonderful U12 Autumn league. These players have come on so much in the space of a year and they are a joy to watch getting better and better with each game. They’ll be a force to be reckoned with over the next few years.
Next up this week is Rd 6 match against Adare and next Saturday they take part in the Mungret Regina Long competition. We hope the girls have a brilliant day and the very best of luck to all involved.
*U11s*
Our Magnificent u11s are enjoying an incredible run in the U12 autumn league with win after win. Not easy when you have a panel of over 30😬🙈 to contend with but Fergal and all the coaches are doing a super job here ensuring the girls are getting plenty of playing time and encouragement.
Next up in the u12 league is a match away to Knockaderry this Thursday.
Well done all and Keep up the good work🇧🇭🇧🇭🇧🇭
*U10*
Our Super U10s were out in Mungret this morning for their first round of the U10 Autumn league. Their league match of last week had been postponed due to the awful rain but conditions today were much better and 22 girls travelled out and played 2 highly competitive and well matched games where there was plenty of skill on display and point scoring was really improving with each game .
Next up in the U10 league is a match away to Newcastlewest next Saturday morning.
Well done girls.
*U9s*
Our U9s are busy training away. Next Sunday they are hosting Na Piarsaigh in a blitz in the Clubhouse and in a few weeks they will also welcome Oranmore from Galway down for a morning of camogie.
They are also very lucky to be invited to the Killarney blitz on the 1st October so a busy few weeks ahead for these fantastic girls. Enjoy everyone
*U8s/U7s*
Our U7s and U8s hosted Mungret and Crecora in the Clubhouse this morning in round 3 of the U8 Autumn league. They had 6 teams playing lots of matches and there was great fun and excitement as well as some serious skill on display. Our U7s got to play Crecora U7s who they were very competitive with and plenty of good games took place.
Lovely to look at the videos and hear the laughter and enjoyment. Well done. Lots more to come over the following weeks.
*U6s*
23 of our smallest ladies took the pitch this morning in the Clubhouse as they played their first ever blitz against Mungret U6s. The excitement was unreal for the girls as well as their parents and coaches. They all thoroughly enjoyed the morning and look forward to maybe another match before the season finishes. Super stuff👏👏👏
Castletroy college training started back this week. First years and second years train on Wednesdays 3:30 to 4:30 and 3rd to 6th years /Thursdays 3:30 to 4:30.
