Club round up week ending 21st July
*Intermediate*
Our intermediate team were on a high entering the championship having won the league and the recent Minor A title and they want to make amends for last year’s final defeat to Cappamore. Today in the beautiful warm sunshine at the clubhouse pitch, the girls put in a suberb performance against Killeedys intermediate ( second team). The girls captained by Grainne Fullen got off to the perfect start with some brilliantly worked scores and the forwards / midfield combo were on fire with lots of early points to go 10 points up before Caoimhe Lyons scored the first goal of the game and the first of her hat trick. At half time the girls in red had a comfortable lead with the score Monaleen 4-17 to 0-2.
Monaleen had the luxury of taking off a few players to give them a rest and the subs stepped up and helped towards this huge first round victory on a final score line of

*Junior B*
Our Junior Bs opened their 2022 championship campaign with a home game today against Bruff. This is also Bruffs second adult team so everything was up for grabs and this showed in the first half as both teams engaged in a tough battle all over the pitch in the hot sunshine with scores hard to come by . Points by Avril, Sorcha, Sarah and Megan saw Monaleen go into the half time with a narrow 2 point lead 0-4 to 0-2.
The second half saw the introduction of Ellie , Caoimhe and Ella and Ciara moved out from goals . An early goal from our new Galway player Sorcha Ní Fhrighil saw us gain some breathing space and this ignited the girls and points from the brilliant Ellie, Megan , Sorcha and Ciara and 3 great goals from Sarah, Avril and Sorcha gave the girls a fantastic and much deserved win in their opening game.

So a brilliant opening day of the championship for our 2 adult teams. 2 weeks time our intermediates are away to Croagh Kilfinny and our juniors at home to Kilmallock. Keep it going all👏👏👏🇶🇦🇶🇦🇶🇦
*U16*
Our U16s have got their championship off to a perfect start as they look to add to their league success a couple of months back.
On Thursday 11th August they played the amalgamated Knockaderry/ Templeglantine team in the first round of the A cup. Monaleen took a while to settle into this game against a very strong team. They went into the half time break 0-4 to 0-3 down but produced a better second half display to take the points on what was a very hot evening at the clubhouse pitch.
Final score
Monaleen 1-12
Knockaderry/ Templeglantine 1-8
A few days later the girls took on Patrickswell at home in the second round. In what was always going to be a tough game as these sides have had many a competitive battle throughout the last couple of years and this encounter lived up to all expectations. Monaleen always looked on top but Patrickswell never gave up and there was little between the two sides until Monaleen pulled away towards the end.
Final score
Monaleen 2-8
Patrickswell 1-6
Well done all and best of luck as championship continues.
Round 3 will take place in a few weeks. Next Wednesday the U16s have a challenge match lined up away to Parteen.
*U14*
Our U14( 2008) will start their championship in the next week against Na Piarsaigh. TBC
Our U14C ( 2009) start their championship on Sept 13th so they are back training in preparation for same. Last week they had a good challenge match away to Sixmilebridge.
*U12*
The county U12 Autumn league started this week and will continue weekly right through until end of September.
Yesterday our
U12 ( 2010) girls played their first round match away to Adare who were missing a few girls. Monaleen dominated this game and with only 12 players they could not substitute so came away with a strong win. Well done girls.
Our second U12 team is our U11s( 2011) and they welcomed Killeedy 2( u11s) to the clubhouse Yesterday morning. A magnificent game of camogie was played out with some brilliant skill on display from both teams . A fabulous point ( or 2 points in camogie) from the side line cut by Emma Halley rounded off a fantastic morning of camogie for our 2 u12 teams. Well done all. Keep up the super work.
Best of luck in next weeks matches.
*LaCrosse*
Well done to our camogie players Millie Reen, Kate Moloney , Emma McGrath( U15)
Eabha Cregan(U14) and Maryann Guiry, Roisin McNamara and Katherine Leddy( U13) who took part in a mixed hurling exhibition match on Friday evening at the clubhouse. This was followed by a similar LaCrosse game . Great evening.
