Limerick underage GAA to return to even age numbers for competitions in 2024:

By John Keogh Limerick Leader Sport

LIMERICK GAA will return to even age grade competitions in 2024 after a vote to keep the status quo failed at a special meeting of the clubs and county board on Tuesday evening.

Following a 45-minute discussion on the subject at the regular monthly meeting a couple of weeks ago, it was decided to continue the discussion last night at the Woodlands House Hotel in Adare.

Last January, the clubs voted to return to competitions being at the U14, U16 and U18 ages. On Tuesday, the clamour to return to uneven numbers failed to reach the required numbers to reverse January’s vote.

As a result, competitive hurling and football will now begin at the U14 level. The U19 and U21 age grades will now no longer exist with U18 and U20 competitions instead after a second vote was held.
