Limerick U14, U15 and U16 Hurling squads in action on Saturday:

THE Limerick U14, U15 and U16 academy hurling squads take part in their respective competitions on Saturday.

Limerick’s U16 hurling team take on Cork in the semi-final of the Eugene Carey tournament on Saturday at 12pm. The winners of that a game will face Galway or Tipperary in the final of the Eugene Carey tournament at 2pm. The losers of both semi-finals will face off in a third and fourth placed play-off.at 2pm All of these games will take place at St Finbarrs GAA club.

Dave Clohessy (Fedamore) manages the side and he is ably assisted by Jody Hannon (Adare), Alan Browne (Claughaun), Tom Murphy (Doon), Andy Cunneen (Claughaun) , Colm Leo (Claughaun) and Mary Hassett (Ahane).

The U16 grade has now became a developement grade. A number of players who were part of this year’s minor sqaud are part of this year’s U16 squad.

The Treaty county have two U15 teams competing in the Arrabawn B tournament which takes place at Moyle Rovers in Tipperary on Saturday.

Limerick 1 face Galway 2 at 12:30pm, while Limerick meet Cork 1 at the same time. The final of the Arrabawn B tournament takes place later that day at 4pm and the third and fourth place play-off between losers of semi-finals gets underway at 4pm.

Chris Sexton of (Kildimo Pallaskenry) managed the Limerick U14 team last year and he has now taken over the reigns with the Limerick U15 team. Sexton is joined by Steve Fox (Glenroe), Brian Sexton (Bruree), Pauic Rattigan (Oldcastle), Mike McCormack (Ballybrown), Mark Dowling (Castletown Ballyagran) and Kevin McGuinness (Clonlara).

Liam Hammersly of (Cappamore) is the manager of the Limerick U14 hurling team. Hammersly is joined by Pa Jones (Hospital Herbertstown), Diarmuid Mullins (Mungret St Pauls), Noel Hartigan (South Liberties), Dave Foley (Cratloe), James Conheady (Crecore Mainster) and Donal Duff (Mungret St Pauls) on the line.

The U14 hurling squad have two teams competiting in the Tony Forrestal and Sonny Walsh tournaments on Saturday in Waterford.

Limerick 1 face Waterford at 11am in the quarter final of the Tony Forrestal tournament on Saturday at Mount Sion GAA club. A win will see the Shannonsiders enter the semi-final of the Tony Forrestal Cup semi-final, while defeat will see them enter the sheild semi-final. The winners of Kilkenny and Tipperary West will take on the winners of Limerick and Waterford at 12:30pm in Mount Sion. The losers of both quarter-finals will meet in Roanmore at 12:30pm. Both the cup and shield finals will be held in Mount Sion at 2pm and 3:30pm.

Limerick 2 take part in the Sonny Walsh tournament on Saturday in Waterford. Their first game sees them come up against Dublin in the quarter-final at the SETU Arena. The action gets underway at 11am. The winner of Cork East and Wexford meets Limerick 2 or Dublin in the semi-final of the Sonny Walsh tournament at 12:30pm, while whoever comes up short in either quarter-final will battle it out in the shield semi-final at Butlerstown at the same time. Both the cup and shield finals of the Sonny Walsh tournament take place in De Le Salle GAA club at 2pm and 3pm.
