Limerick GAA Referees Association ran a very successful AGM:
At the Munster council offices on Thursday night last the Limerick GAA Referees Association held their AGM. The meeting was opened with a minutes silence in memory of all lost loved ones during the year. A large crowd was in attendance, inclusive of representatives from the County Board, Bord na nOg, Coaching & Development and Post Primary Schools. Each of the representatives complimented all referees and their team of officials for their contribution and handling of all games during a successful and enjoyable year and wished them well for the forthcoming year. They all mentioned the shortage and difficulty of appointing referees and thanked all that made themselves available at short notice. It was repeatedly mentioned that the cancellation of matches due to the unavailability of referees was close to realisation and pleaded for more people to join the referee family. It was also pleaded that everyone should have patience and respect for referees, in particular with the application of the new football rules. Limerick referees were commended for their handling of numerous Munster and All Ireland Finals, in particular Johnny Murphy and Jonathon Hayes. The officers were returned unopposed.
