RESULTS

U21 13 A SIDE HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Knockaderry 3-11

Claughan 0-14

We recorded our second win in the competition on Sunday morning last with a good victory over a very spirited Claughan side in Mick Neville Park. We set the

pace from Liam Molyneaux before Mike Molloy struck for goal inside the opening 15 minutes. However it was from here that the opposition dominated and came storming back into the game with a string of points in a row before Micheal O Connor cut in for a fabulous well taken goal to ease the pressure on the scoreboard, at half time we led 2-7 to 0-6. Indeed it was Claughan who dominated the opening quarter of the second half again as we found ourselves defending more than attacking but the in form Lyons twins were in resilient mode at the back to repel repeated waves of attack. Jack Molloy who was outstanding in midfield all through responded with a number of pointed scores from play and from frees Brendan Guiry latched onto a well worked move from Mike Molloy to slot home and raise a green flag and eventually put daylight between the sides. All in all this was a very good workout for our youthful side whom were minus a few regulars owing to different reasons this weekend. The lads worked very hard and put together some fine passages of play at various stages in the game. We are firmly on course to putting ourselves into a semi-final spot and will do so for definite if we can over come South Liberties next weekend in our final group game.

Team: Bryan Mortell, Cormac Lyons, Darragh Lyons, Colm O Connor, Liam Molynaeaux, Oran Ryan, Jack Molloy, Brendan Guiry, Mike Molloy, Jack Corkery, Micheal O Conmnor, Bryan Hartigan, Tiernan Mason, Darren Bridgeman and Ray Lacey.
