Knockaderry GAA Club Notes:
Knockaderry U12s hurl in Croke Park
On Saturday afternoon last our U12 hurlers got the very unique opportunity to play an exhibition game against Whitehall Colmcille of Dublin in Croke Park at half time in the All Ireland quarter final between Limerick and Dublin. As the news broke midweek of last week, excitement grew to fever pitch by Saturday. This was a very unique opportunity for the team and the club. Our coaches had made the very best arrangements for the boys for the day and as our players rolled into Dublin on Saturday lunchtime that youthful energy and giddiness was well abound. For our eleven boys that got the opportunity to showcase their skills in Croke Park, it is a day that they will never forget. In the sundrenched arena, on the perfect sod at the headquarters of the Gaelic Games our boys showed passion, vigor and great skill, characteristics that are long associated with Knockaderry teams. In a highly competitive game, where no quarter was asked for nor given by either side, it was the Knockaderry men that prevailed narrowly in a most memorable twelve minutes of hurling. We say a sincere thanks to all who made the day happen and in particular to Bord Na Nog officers Johnny Lavelle and Declan Nash along with team coaches Ger Ambrose, Eoin O Grady and Oliver Dowling.
Knockaderry panel on the day: Joshua Meehan, Eoin Clarke, Tom Fitzpatrick, Thomas O’Donovan, Adam Dowling, Eoghan Thomas Barrett, Darragh Ambrose, Gearoid O’Grady, Donal Ambrose, Tommy Lavelle, Conor Nash.
