Best of luck to the Limerick Senior Hurlers as they get their season underway with a Dairygold Co-Op superstores Munster semi-final vs Kerry on Friday Jan. 14th at 7pm in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
Ireland Light Up! – GAA Healthy Club Project
Our club year is off to a great start with the news that we have been successful in joining the next phase of the GAA Healthy Club Project! To start off we will be taking part in the GAA Ireland Lights Up campaign in association with Irish life Insurance and Operation Transformation. While our plans to create a walking track around our pitch are in the works we would like to get the ball rolling by inviting you to participate. From Wednesday 19th January (new date) the challenge is open to all ages with the aim of encouraging people to get their year off to an active and healthy start. Even an extra hour of walking or gentle exercise a week will be of great benefit.
As an extra incentive Irish Life are running the ‘My Life – Every Step Counts Challenge. The target is for a club and its members to walk 4,000 Kms (the distance around Ireland). All successful clubs will be entered in a draw for O’Neils prize vouchers. The challenge lasts for 5 weeks from Wednesday 12th January to 16th February. The kms can be tracked anywhere e.g. fitbit, strava. Please download the ‘My Life by Irish Life’ App and select Kilteely Dromkeen GAA club to enter your distances.
Keep an eye on our social media for more info., tips and hike suggestions
This is the first of many exciting initiatives we hope to roll out as part of our Healthy Club project. Of course, these things don’t just magically happen so a committee will be needed. If you would like to get involved in helping out and encouraging healthy living within our club and community please contact James at 0879646197 for more info. Thanks
