KILTEELY-DROMKEEN GAA CLUB NOTES
Club Results:
Junior A Hurling Championship Group 2 – Round 5:
Kilteely Dromkeen 1.12 – 1.17 St.Patricks in Cappamore 1pm, Sunday 10th October
Unfortunately, on Sunday our championship campaign came to a disappointing end in Cappamore. After a very positive season in the lead up with 3 wins and a defeat, a victory over St.Patricks was still required to progress to the county ¼ finals. Played in fantastic conditions, this game threatened to ignite into a classic were it not for the stop start nature of the free giving. After a cagey opening quarter with both times exchanging quality scores, a goal against the run of play had us trailing 1.10 to 0.08 at half-time. The opening quarter of the 2nd half saw most of the ball in St. Pats half but unfortunately between narrow wides and frees against us we could never generate a string of scores. Our lads battled to the very end, creating several more chances that on another day could have changed the final result. Our backs defended resolutely throughout, conceding only 4/5 points from play. Frees very much being the theme of the day, Denny Ahern rocketed one such placed ball low into the corner of the net late on. Incredibly the gap remained at 5 points at the end despite our best efforts. Thanks to the players, Tommy, Paddy, Philip, Mairead and all volunteers for their efforts throughout the season.

U13 Div. 3 County Hurling Final:
Hard luck to our U13 hurlers with Pallasgreen in County Final action vs St. Kierans on a foggy Sunday morning in Kilbreedy. This game was always going to be a tight contest and it ended that way with only a score separating the sides 0.3 to 1.2. Commiserations to players and management but take great pride from your efforts during the season, reaching a county final is a fantastic achievement.
