KILTEELY-DROMKEEN GAA CLUB NOTES
All Ireland Champions
Huge congratulations to the Limerick Hurlers and management on a magnificent victory over Waterford in the All Ireland Final yesterday. It was a consummate display of desire, skill and will to win from goalie Nicky Quaid all to way to Graham Mulcahy and the subs introduced. To go the whole season unbeaten and collect all the trophies on offer along the way is just phenomenal.
Although no supporters could be present this victory gave the whole county a huge lift, for a least one day we could forget our Covid worries whilst observing all the guidelines. John Kiely has molded this group of players and management into a likeness of himself, hugely driven, honest, never say die attitude combined with humility and a strong connection with the ordinary Limerick supporters. Declan Hannon gave one of the greatest captain’s speeches ever, not forgetting anyone all the way to the front line workers.
For us a small rural club to have three people involved was quiet surreal. Brian O’Grady was a member of the 36 panel and becomes the first Kilteely Dromkeen man to win an All Ireland Senior medal. Eibhear O’Dea and Denny Ahern were key members of the backroom team, all three are dedicated and hard working individuals and all in the Club and Community are extremely proud of the lads and their families. All Ireland Final
Excitement has been building over the last week or two as Limerick head into battle against Waterford in the All Ireland Final. Of course supporters cannot attend but many people have been flying flags in support outside their houses and the club has erected a poster in support.
For a small rural club we have very strong links with the team. Brian O Grady is part of the 36 man panel, a tremendous achievement for Brian. Eibhear O Dea and Denny Ahern are vital parts of John Kielys backroom team, we wish all the lads and the team the very best, everyone is of course very proud of all of them.
