KILTEELY /DROMKEEN GAA CLUB NOTES
County Junior A Football Quarter Final
KDGAA 2-08 Dromcollogher Broadford 1-08
Our footballers continued on their winning ways with a hard fought win over Drom Broadford, who had won all their group games.
In a windswept Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale we struggled early on to get to grips playing against the strong wind. Drom Broadford racked up five unanswered points as we were in danger of slipping too far behind.
However the lads responded very well, and after a couple of missed chances, Denis O’Dea got us off the mark. The same player was at the end of a flowing move to finish to the net a few minutes later.
Excellent points from Timmy O’Keefe, Denis O’Dea and Paudie Ahern followed as we hit a purple patch to go 1.4 to 0.5 ahead. Drom responded with two points and a goal before Lar Smalle finished the half with a point.
The half time score of 1.5 to 1.7 looked very manageable to overhaul.
Denis Ahern pointed a close in free to narrow the gap but we weren’t playing with the same fluidity and composure as the first half. Two Denis O’Dea points had us a point ahead but we failed to push on missing two glorious goal chances before Drom equalised with their only score of the half. Denis Ahern twice struck the post as time ran out and extra time was beckoning.
The team was defending superbly but we couldn’t find a score until that man Denis O’Dea struck at the death with an expertly taken goal to send us through.
A hard-fought win against a very good Drom Broadford team that featured some of Limericks former stars.
Team Matthew Corbett, James Dalaigh, Paudie O’Keefe, Shane Smalle, Brian O’Grady, Fionn Murphy, Timmy O’Keefe, Daniel Gleeson, Danny Holton, Paudie Ahern, David Murphy, Denis O’Dea, Robbie Holmes, Denny Ahern, Lar Smalle, Subs used Christopher O’Dea, Pierce Close
County Junior A Championship – Semi Final
Next up for the team is a County Semi Final V Monaleen in Doon on Tuesday Oct 22nd at 8pm. Monaleen beat us recently in the County League Final and they are a fine team. Come out and support the lads, the support on the sideline could make all the difference.
Minor A Hurling East Final
Hard look to our lads who played with Caherline at the weekend in the the East final, they came up against a very strong Murroe Boher outfit. They still have a county semi Final to play this Saturday Oct 19th V Adare in Kilmallock at 2pm
