KILLEEDY GAA CLUB NOTES
GAA for Dads & Lads:
Killeedy have set up a Dad’s & Lads Team, they are looking for new people to join. Please contact Damien on 087 8238390 if you are interested in playing.. they are looking at a mid-week for training sessions.
If you’re interested in a bit of weekly exercise, kicking a ball at your own pace, all-the-while, not a press-up in sight.. This is for you..!
A small but growing group have met on Sundays for a ‘kick-about’. The general consensus is that a mid-week session would suit better. At the moment, it’s difficult to get momentum with holidays and otherwise busy schedules. The goal, to have a team interested in playing other limerick clubs in a 7 or 9-a-side match. Games are 20 minutes (10 minutes a half). The bigger plan is to have a team participating in a regional blitz later in the year.. Bit of fun..! Once we confirm a weekly training day and time, it will be communicated in next weeks’ Observer notes and on social media.
The GAA launched their newest initiative ‘GAA for Dads & Lads’, click below for details. ‘GAA for Dads & Lads’ is a social hurling and football programme for those keen to enjoy Gaelic Games outside the traditional competitive structures of the GAA. We have included a number of different resources for you below to help promote this initiative.
With an emphasis on the social interaction and enjoyment that only team sports can provide, GAA for Dads & Lads is about keeping fun and participation to the fore of hurling football regardless of age or experience. The games allow incidental contact only (to minimise risk of injury) so skills are to the fore over physicality. So regardless of whether you are a recently retired great, a lapsed player looking to reconnect with the game you once loved, or completely new to Gaelic Games and looking to try your hand at a bit of hurling or football, ‘GAA for Dads & Lads’ could be for you.
And for the ladies…….Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others continues on Tuesday evenings in Coolyroe at 8.15. Please check out Feohanagh/Castlemahon LGFC Facebook page for more details. All welcome. Beginners welcome too!
